Role Purpose: The Service & Start-up Electrical Technicians are responsible for the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical components directly at customer sites. The Service & Start-up Electrical Technicians must follow specifications to meet safety, quality, and customer requirements. They will perform repairs, troubleshoot problems, and conduct servicing and warranty work on machines after installation. This role requires frequent travel to customer sites both domestically and internationally.
Reports To: Service Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel to customer locations to assist with the installation and assembly of electrical systems in machinery according to customer requirements.
- Provide technical support and maintain electrical equipment, servicing as per customer requests and requirements
- Perform routing and termination of electrical components
- Use a variety of hand and power tools following appropriate methods and procedures to complete electrical assembly of components or products
- Lay out components and wire electrical panels/cabinets as per schematics
- Perform tests on installed components to ensure they meet the appropriate standards
- Diagnose and trouble shoot electrical systems to ensure accurate operation and safety
- Document installation and start-up processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, mechanical technicians, and project managers to ensure successful installation
- Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance to ensure ongoing machine performance.
- Handle warranty work, including diagnosing issues and performing necessary repairs.
- Provide detailed reports on warranty and service work completed, including parts used, labor hours, and any recommendations for future preventative measures.
- Educate customers on proper machine usage and maintenance to minimize future issues and prolong machine lifespan.
- Respond promptly to customer service requests, minimizing downtime and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through effective communication and reliable service.
Requirements:
- Industrial Electrician trades certification (preferred)
- Experience in electrical installation or start up in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and comprehend electrical prints and schematics
- Must have a general understanding of hydraulics as it applies to equipment
- Required to travel to client sites for project installations, service, and support
- Valid passport and driver's license – frequent international travel required
