HR / EHS Manager (Parental Leave)

The HR / EHS Manager provides a wide range of HR and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) services to support business strategy, including recruitment, training, onboarding, coaching and support, performance management and HR and EHS policy development and implementation. This is a temporary position covering a parental leave. This role works closely with all employees to build a positive, productive, and committed culture that attracts and retains high performers to achieve business results.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Development of an employee focused company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and high performance.
- Ensuring employment and compliance with regulatory concerns regarding employees.
- Activities within the HR and EHS function related to recruiting, onboarding, talent management, employee relations, strategic programs initiatives, health & safety and employee inquiries.
- Build relationships of trust and mutual respect with organizational leaders to effectively deliver on the organizations needs.
- When representing the organization externally ensuring to display the values of our organization in a professional manner.
Human Resources:
- Dependably demonstrates a relentless obsession with higher purpose, values alignment, focus, simplicity, and clarity.
- Be a visible and approachable member of the human resources department representing the desired culture of the organization while building trusted relationships.
- Coaches and influences leadership and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention across all functions by meeting regularly with organization leaders.
- Partner with leaders on integrated talent management initiatives including talent strategy, workforce planning, sourcing and recruitment, performance management, learning and development, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Development and implementation of HR policies, projects and programs across the organization focused on enhancing organizational performance, engagement, and conformance with legislative requirements.
- Analyzes HR information to identify trends/issues within the department and proactively develops solutions based on HR programs, policies, and processes.
- Remains current with external Human Resources best practices and processes as well as new trends.
Envrionmental, Health & Safety:
- Establishes and implements EHS programs, which will require developing and implementing processes, procedures, work instructions, audit checklists, etc.
- Manage, direct, coach, lead, and motivate employees to achieve EHS goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner, while continuously striving to improve safety skills and awareness.
- Promote Environmental Health and Safety regulations and safe working practices, while ensuring current compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Acts.
- Lead incident investigations identifying root causes of incidents to determine and initiate corrective actions.
- Identifies, establishes, implements and communicates performance metrics and measure and report performance results.
- Directing the JHSC in achieving their goal of excellence and maintaining their role as champions of the Company EHS Program (e.g. monthly inspections).
- Monitor trends in safety and establish required action to reduce and/or eliminate all incidents.
- Act as key EHS liaison assisting in the execution of the strategic and tactical EHS plans.
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct EHS training programs.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- University degree or college diploma in Human Resources Management, Environmental Health & Safety, or equivalent
- Completed CHRP or CHRL designation or in progress
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant human resource and EHS experience
- Excellent oral and written communications, and ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels throughout the organization.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- A strong work ethic, solid time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to change and perform efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
- Accuracy and attention to detail is essential, with ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High energy and superb follow-through.
- Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, ability to prepare spreadsheets
