Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Millwright to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operational efficiency. Work as part of a team to conduct the installation, testing, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment in a manufacturing environment. Able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and specifications to provide troubleshooting and repair services. Lead the process to develop preventive maintenance and continuous improvement programs to improve efficiency and output of the production facility. Routinely perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and components to ensure the continued safe, efficient and effective operations of all equipment and fixtures utilized by the organization.
Duties
- Conduct the installation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical systems, fixtures, control devices and equipment
- Develop and implement continuous improvement system including downtime tracking, line efficiency monitoring and other metrics to improve the efficiency of the production plant
- Diagnose, locate the cause of, and repair malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment
- Maintain accurate and up to date maintenance records
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures
- Design, implement and manage a master preventative maintenance plan
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance tasks
- Ensure all work performed adheres to all relevant organizational, provincial and federal safety regulations, codes and specifications
- Seek opportunities to lower costs and enhance production efficiency through the adoption of new technologies
- Autonomous maintenance experience, including basic cleaning countermeasure practices for sources of dirt to keep facility in "like new condition" and cleaning procedures as they relate to breakdowns
- Perform preventative maintenance through inspection of electrical systems, equipment and components
- Assist with design, implement and manage a master preventative maintenance plan
- Direct and train other workers and apprentices to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
- Plan and execute daily, weekly and monthly preventative maintenance inspections
- Conduct safety compliance inspection s and work as part of the JHSC
- Instruct personnel in equipment start-up procedures and machine operation
- Lead projects including line extensions, new packaging and process improvements
- Analysis of deviations in all critical machines
- Work in other maintenance continuous improvement projects as needed
- Adhere to all prescribed Regulatory and Company requirements for Occupational Health, Safety and Environment, Food Safety and Quality Systems, HACCP, Sanitation and GMP's
Skills
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, boilers, air conditioning and welding
- Experience with routine maintenance operations
- Experience with OEE and working within a Continuous Improvement Team
- FMEA analysis
- BRS/AIB Food Audit experience is an asset
- Lean manufacturing practice, with attention to 5S practices
- Experience with production line filling sauces, dips, soups, condiments, soft drinks, juices etc.. is a must
- Implementation of Root Cause Analysis practices and improvements
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lb
- Experience in managing spare parts inventory

- Able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of safe operating procedures
- Self-starter, with developed analytical and troubleshooting skills
