Lumar Machining & Manufacturing Ltd. is a contract machine shop with a full range of machining services. Our capabilities include: CNC machining, precision grinding, manual turning and milling, plus a full inspection service.
Wage Range: $36-42 (Wage will be determined based on skills and experience)
VACATION: 3 Weeks to Start!
PLUS $2500 Sign-on BONUS and Relocation Allowance (Terms apply)
Position Summary:
The General Machinist/ Toolmaker is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines to perform various tasks such as drilling, milling, and turning. This role requires a combination of technical skills, precision, and problem-solving abilities to ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience in precision machining, and is skilled at interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.

Hiring for Day Shift (Monday-Friday 7:00am - 3:15pm) and Afternoon Shift (Monday - Thursday, 3:00 pm - 1:30am)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Use of various equipment/tools to create and repair tooling, including, but not limited to, grinders, welding equipment, machining equipment, overhead cranes,
- Prepare and load/set up the raw material or die sections in the machine
- Program/Run CNC code from provided CAD data using Mastercam
- Interact with CAD specialist/Toolmakers to refurbish/improve/build spares
- Maintain equipment by completing PMs and calling for repair if required
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex mechanical and operational issues.
- Manufacture, modify and repair precision tools, jigs, fixtures according to specifications, blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Licensed Machinist and/or Tool and Die Maker
- 2-5 years of previous work experience in a custom machining shop
- Proficient reading blueprints and sketches
- Experience with 3/5 axis CNC operation and programming
- Knowledge of SolidWorks, Mastercam or Edgecam and AutoCAD software
- Proficient with Okuma, Siemens and Heidenheim CNC controls
- Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and supervisors.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to obtain a Controlled Goods clearance
- Must be proficient in English
Equipment/ Tools/ Technology Used:
- Measuring tools and instruments, such as micrometers, verniers, callipers, height gauges or other specialized measuring instruments
- 3, 4 and 5-Axis CNC machines
- Lathe
