Textile Processing Specialist
Looking for a dynamic Textile Processing Specialist to join our team in Dorchester, Ontario!

General Description:
The nature of the work is processing fibres and textiles for use in fibre reinforced plastics FRP. The work
includes professional handling of different fibres for the weaving process, rewinding operations, creel
setup, warp setup and setting up weaving machine to desired weave patterns. Handling delegation of
visual and mechanical quality control of weaving process and product. Managing and execution of
labeling, packing and routing of finished goods to stock. Managing of raw material and specific
consumables inventory, raw material quality control and preparation for weaving. The production task
includes series production and experimental prototype runs. The work scope encompasses machine
setup, daily maintenance and preventative maintenance. Clean room activities and protection of fibres
or fabrics from environmental contamination is a part of the duties. Advancing the health and safety
protocol special to the weaving operation to industry standards is expected. Leader ship capability to
train and instruct a weaving operator and coordination and support of multiple shifts is part of the task.
The ability to interact and work with other fabric and textile processing machinery like ply-cutter, fabric
laying machines and press processes is a growth path of the described general description.

Essential Duties:
The duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to:
• Starts, stops and monitors weaving operation on one or more weaving machines. 
• Sets-up and organizes individual work area with designated supplies, forms and resource
materials while maintaining cleanliness at all times
• Feeds needle loom machines and blend fiber according to instructions
• Observes process and continuously checks fabrics or products for defects and verifies quality
and efficiency requirements
• Records all production information on the production and quality reports
• Adjusts machine performance on material by observing machine operation; detecting
malfunctions; adjusting settings as needed
• Investigates and troubleshoots equipment stoppages and notifies the Production Manager if
there are any assembly, safety or quality issues
• Performs basic maintenance, repair and cleaning duties of the equipment to include; cleaning
fiber from pulleys, belts, chains and boards, using vacuum to collect fiber from under machinery,
replacing side panels and screwing bolts as an example.
• Performs warp and creel fiber changes, rewinding operation and fibre break fixes.
• Performs machine start-up and shutdown with set weaving pattern and setup.
• Monitors fibre tensions and maintains the fibre supply for weft.
• Performs the setup and qualification run of the machine for new fabric setup. (initially under
trainer supervision)
• Transports and stores finished products and packaging materials throughout the plant by
operating the forklift and using other powered equipment and lifting devices
• Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with the other areas
• Resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity
• Have a good knowledge of all Standard Operational Procedures for their area and be able to
ensure that all standards of quality are controlled and carried out.

• Comply with and demonstrate the company Health & Safety rules and regulations in accordance
with the Act. Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed in all areas covered by
this designation
• Prepare production and other reports as required
• Oversee training of workers on the machines
• The position is a new vertical integration step at Armatec and any new tasks evolving out of the
weaving process are in the duty of this job description.

Prerequisite Skills and Qualifications:
• 5 years textile weaving machine experience preferred. 
• High school diploma or equivalent, or one-year community college. 
• Operate, Setup & Program different pieces of equipment at an advanced level
• Quick learner and motivated self starter in learning about the weaving process.
• General understanding of mathematics, MS-Excel skills and computer literate.
• Ability to create machine setup sheets, inspection plan and maintain documentation.
• Understand and operate in an MRP system (M2M) for production planning and inventory
control related to the weaving operation and its accessories.
• Ability to read basic blueprints
• Excellent Communication skills
• Leadership and team building skills
• Organized and tidy workmanship
• Ability to understand production schedules
• Very good knowledge of computer software in general
• Legible handwriting and good writing skills
• Knowledge of required measuring instruments and gauges
• Fork lift training
