Job Title: CNC Operator III / Machinist
Location: 2068 Piper Lane / 290 Sovereign Road
Reports to: Production Manager
Compensation: $29.00-$40.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Position Overview:
The CNC Operator III reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for the operation, set-up and
troubleshooting of one or more machines. CNC Operators in this level may also be required to alter
and/or generate programs on various machines. The CNC Operator III will also work on a variety of
products.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Set-up, troubleshoot and/or operate new and existing production parts using vises, fixtures, chucks,
etc. with one or more of the following machine(s): CNC Lathe, CNC Mill, Bandsaw, Sandblaster,
Manual Mill, Manual Drill Press, hand grinders, and other power tools. These tasks will be done
under limited supervision.
• Alter/generate existing programs on four axis CNC machines by hand.
• Performs new set-ups on a variety of CNC equipment using an advanced level of tooling.
• Ensures that all set-ups are properly proven on CNC equipment for Level I and II Operators to run.
• Makes changes to existing programs to reflect engineering changes, casting variations, and
efficiencies.
• Capable to transfer CNC programs between CNC equipment.
• Capable of building complex tooling and fixturing as necessary to support machining requirements.
• May perform detailed machine adjustments, if necessary.
• May read and interpret technical drawings to verify machines parts, and to determine machine set-up
and production methods.
• May visually or mechanically inspect parts for defects (cracks, chips, dimension, surface finish, etc)
as part of in-process inspection.
• Records results of defects and notifies lead/supervisor of deviation as appropriate.
• May use one or more of the following for measuring and inspection: tape measure, various types of
micrometers and calipers, profilometer, height gauge, indicators, edge finders, thread gauges, pin
gauges, and bore gauges with master ring.
• Understands and meets or exceeds production and quality standards; seeks to minimize reject rate.
• Follows approved drawings and a work instruction provided, and improves process and work
instructions for new and existing parts.
• Required to perform machine preventative maintenance functions, i.e. checking coolants, checking
lubricants, and changing filters, etc.
Keeps machines and work area clean; notifies supervisor or maintenance when machine
abnormalities occur.
• Safely move components with lifting devices such as overhead cranes, jib cranes, and fork-lifts.
• Possess the ability to use the computer system (MFG/Pro) for basic departmental transactions.
• Train other employees as required.
• Can be the recognized expert and may be sought out to perform leadership duties as necessary.
• Must serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex technical problems.
Administration
• Maintains an acceptable level of performance by following established policies and procedures, and
participating in continuous improvement efforts by supporting and implementing new ideas.
• Sets a positive example by maintaining a respective attitude, cooperating with co-workers,
management, and internal and external customers.
• Be a productive team member and help to meet established departmental and Company goals.
• Wears appropriate personal protective equipment at all times when required
• Report any personal workplace injuries to direct supervisor immediately.
• Report safety issues to direct supervisor or EHS Manager as soon as possible.
• Responsible for knowing where non-hazardous waste collection containers are located and for putting
non-hazardous/hazardous wastes in appropriate containers.
• Report to work for your regularly scheduled shifts on time and ready to work.
• Follow all company policies and health and safety procedures.
• Effectively gives and receives feedback and willingly asks questions and seeks direction when
needed.
• May work any and all shifts/days as required and may be asked to work between ADJ facilities.
• Willingly accepts responsibility of sharing skills and knowledge with other employees.
• Perform all other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications:
• Must meet the requirements of the Canadian Controlled Goods Security Assessment Application as
per Section 15 of the Controlled Goods Regulations, SOR/2001-32.
• Educational background in manufacturing or equivalent experience working on CNC machines
• 5+ years of experience working with CNC machines performing set-ups and program alterations
• Must be proficient with all CNC control systems within area of responsibility.
• Must be proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Must have full understanding of G and M codes in order to perform set-up functions
• Skilled knowledge of blue print reading.
• Skilled machining experience, material knowledge, and math skills.
• Must meet all training requirements as defined by department.
