Job Description
Manufacturing Process Engineer
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Manufacturing Process Engineer designs, builds, maintains and improves machines and tools within the plant facilities to ensure a safe, most efficient and productive operation for all assigned manufacturing processes
As a member of the Engineering Team, you will provide Engineering Support to Manufacturing and work close with Production, Engineering and Quality to ensure continuous improvement as well as supporting new program launches, equipment, and machinery and technology changes.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
· Participate in customer quote of new programs and provide technical support toward the use of company preferred technology.
· Review customer design proposals, data and performance requirements for manufacturing feasibility.
· Initiate and manage on-time completion of MPE deliverables in the INOAC Manufacturing Sign-Off document (MSO) throughout all launch phases of new programs.
· Work with suppliers of new technologies to support implementation of innovative concepts in our products and process.
· Develop equipment and tooling specifications, identify potential suppliers, prepare and release quote packages and make sourcing recommendations.
· Understand critical and significant characteristics of new products and develop error proof systems, and manufacturing processes that are statistically capable of meeting product requirements.
· Develop direct labor staffing and line rate requirements utilizing line balance tools, job element analysis and detailed capacity studies
· Provide support on site as required at the manufacturing location during prototype builds and throughout the launch of new programs.
· Active participation in the cross-functional team that ensures safety, quality, delivery & financial objectives of the program are met
· Some international travel may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or relevant technical degree
· 2 to 5 years automotive experience an asset
· Working knowledge of Product Design Process (GD&T, DFMEA, Datum Schemes, etc.)
· Working knowledge of Advanced Quality Planning and Problem Solving Tools (PFMEA, KT, 8D’s, etc.)
· Computer literate ( Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook)
· Knowledge of ergonomics, manufacturing safety, environmental/ regulatory compliance
· Prior experience with some or all of the technologies listed below is preferred

- Powder Cast
- Foam in Place
- Ultrasonic Welding
- Laser/Knife Scoring
- Automated Assembly
- Lean Manufacturing Principles
· PLC Programming
- Robot Programming
- AutoCAD, Solid Works, Catia
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Development training will be defined by the Department Manager and could be in-house or external to the site.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRMONMENT:
Requires desk and computer work predominately in an office setting. Periodic exposure to standing working in office and manufacturing plant environment on concrete floors. Requires occasional long hours.
