Forge Engineering Technician Lead

The Forge Engineering Technician Lead will oversee and support operations within the forging area, working collaboratively with both unionized and salaried employees. this role will serve as a key liaison between production and maintenance teams to ensure efficient operations, quality output, and effective maintenance activities.

Responsibilities
- Oversee effective operation of the forge / press on 2 shift basis
- Responsibility for OEE of the forge / press operation
- Oversee effective operation of the forge / press on 2 shift basis
- Work with unionized personnel to ensure production of quality forgings
- Liaise with Production Manager and Maintenance Manager daily in order to align on production plans and maintenance activities
- Assign daily tasks, routine work, and repair orders.
- Actively participate in regular staff and communications sessions
- Project assignments as required
- Coordinate work performed by outside vendors
- To understand production requirements and oversee area to accomplish the plan
- Communicate/escalate area issues and actions
Education & Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years press and/or forging industry experience with equipment operation, troubleshooting and supervision/leading people.
- Technical training in related field preferred
- Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems is an asset
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations is an asset
- Design equipment improvements and input into preventative maintenance program
- Standardize procedures
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Highly motivated and able to motivate others.
- Ability to work with all levels in the company and outside contractors and vendors.
- Good computer skills ( MS Office, spreadsheets, data sorting and analysis )
- Knowledge of forging / pressing process with ability to troubleshoot problems
- Problem solving/analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure and make effective, prompt decisions
- Knowledge and experience in leading, directing and supervision
