The Forge Engineering Technician Lead will oversee and support operations within the forging area, working collaboratively with both unionized and salaried employees. this role will serve as a key liaison between production and maintenance teams to ensure efficient operations, quality output, and effective maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee effective operation of the forge / press on 2 shift basis
• Responsibility for OEE of the forge / press operation
• Oversee effective operation of the forge / press on 2 shift basis
• Work with unionized personnel to ensure production of quality forgings
• Liaise with Production Manager and Maintenance Manager daily in order to align on production plans and maintenance activities
• Assign daily tasks, routine work, and repair orders.
• Actively participate in regular staff and communications sessions
• Project assignments as required
• Coordinate work performed by outside vendors
• To understand production requirements and oversee area to accomplish the plan
• Communicate/escalate area issues and actions

Education & Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years press and/or forging industry experience with equipment operation, troubleshooting and supervision/leading people.
• Technical training in related field preferred
• Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems is an asset
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations is an asset
• Design equipment improvements and input into preventative maintenance program
• Standardize procedures
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Highly motivated and able to motivate others.
• Ability to work with all levels in the company and outside contractors and vendors.
• Good computer skills ( MS Office, spreadsheets, data sorting and analysis )
• Knowledge of forging  / pressing process with ability to troubleshoot problems
• Problem solving/analytical skills
• Ability to work under pressure and make effective, prompt decisions
• Knowledge and experience in leading, directing and supervision
