EMS Manufacturing Supervisor
The Electronics Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for the general supervision, coordination and effective scheduling of Electronics Manufacturing staff, including Electronics Assemblers, Technicians and Machine Operators. The Electronics Manufacturing Supervisor reports directly to the Electronics Manufacturing Manager and is considered the primary backup to the Manager. The Electronics Manufacturing Supervisor acts as the first point of contact for matters relating to vacation and time-off, employee relations, training needs, development, and corporate communications.
The role works with all team members to ensure that electronic manufacturing targets are reached, quality standards are met and health and safety requirements are upheld. The Electronics Manufacturing Supervisor also assists with Quality Control (QC) for electronic products.
The Electronics Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a positive and respectful team-centered work environment which includes regular open communication, collaboration, risk assessment, 6 S and continuous improvement. This position will provide input to the Electronics Manufacturing Manager with regards to employee promotions, recruitment and selection.
In the course of their duties, the Electronics Manufacturing Supervisor will prepare a range of reports, monitor supplies, scheduling and work with the Electronics Manufacturing Manager to ensure resource requirements for the Department are fulfilled.
Summary of Major Accountabilities
- Supervise, coordinate and schedule the manufacturing activities of workers for all electronic products at OES, including assembly, testing and quality control.
- Continuously monitor progress of the production target and report any potential delays to the Electronics Manufacturing Manager
- Work in collaboration with the Electronics Manufacturing Staff to ensure that jobs are on schedule and that the team has required materials to minimize any production delays
- Ensure that staff are effectively trained for their job responsibilities and that jobs are completed according to established safety procedures, OES policy and quality standards
- Support all functions of the Electronics Manufacturing team and resolve any issues and/or problems they may face while carrying out their job duties
- Act as a mentor to newly hired employees and introduce them to their job tasks as well as assign other team members to train them on required processes
- Work collaboratively with the Electronics Manufacturing Manager and Human Resources to address any performance related issues with employees in a timely manner as well as provide any necessary coaching
- Plan and facilitate daily huddles in collaboration with the Electronics Manufacturing Manager to establish and review daily and weekly targets
- Maintain open dialogue with team, through multiple forums, to ensure that communication is maintained between OES Electronics Manufacturing and other areas of OES business
- Report risk, opportunities and challenges to the Electronics Manufacturing Manager on a regular basis and make recommendations as required
- regularly monitor and evaluate the Electronics Manufacturing job list(s) and production schedule(s) and work with the Electronics Manufacturing Manager to establish job priorities
- Prepare production kits and jobs for assembly as required and as per the established schedule
- Process employee leave requests (i.e. time off, vacation)
- Prepare production and other related reports as required
- Update and maintain a status of jobs on the internal production schedule
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management processes and actively participate in ISO internal and external audits
- Work with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure all machines and tools on the floor follow the maintenance guidelines and procedures
- Work with the Quality Assurance Manager to carry out quality control inspections throughout various stages of the electronics manufacturing process (including incoming, in-process and final inspection)
- Assist in the investigation, monitoring and continuous improvement of quality issues
- Escalate any product or quality issues or risks to the Quality Assurance Manager and ensure that quality related improvements and/or solutions are executed and communicated properly to Team
- Ensure to adopt all health and safety work guidelines and requirements and hold all employees accountable for adhering to them
- Provide back-up support/coverage as required in order to cover employee absences and to meet production and shipping deadlines
- Any other relevant duties as assigned by the Electronics Manufacturing Manager
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
· Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
· Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic principles.
· Hands-on manufacturing experience, including electronic assembly and testing, is considered an asset.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to address sensitive or challenging employee matters with professionalism, diplomacy, and respect.
· Strong time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
· In-depth knowledge of IPC standards and Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 16949, and ISO 14001.
· Proven leadership abilities, including analyzing production data, coaching, mentoring, evaluating performance, training, developing, motivating, and empowering team members.
· Ability to read and interpret production documentation, including electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
· Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with exceptional attention to detail.
· Strong analytical skills with expertise in quality systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
· Flexibility to work varying hours as required to support operational needs.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
