About the Role

Wage: $33-$45/hour OT paid out after 40 hours at 1.5 x hourly rate, 3% employer matching RRSP

POSITION SUMMARY
As a Controls Designer, you will create electrical and pneumatic schematics for custom automation systems using SolidWorks Electrical. Your role will involve developing detailed layouts that ensure cost-efficiency and accuracy while meeting customer requirements and enabling seamless implementation by the electrical department. This is an opportunity to contribute to innovative projects and grow within a dynamic team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design & Innovate: Lead the creation of cutting-edge electrical and pneumatic schematics in SolidWorks Electrical, bringing complex automation systems to life.
Collaborate & Present: Present visionary designs in concept and design reviews, and work closely with customers and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Problem-Solve & Optimize: Research, select, and integrate high-performance components, working with suppliers to meet specs, pricing, and lead times while optimizing systems for maximum efficiency.
Drive Projects & Lead Teams: Take charge of medium to large projects, ensuring they meet functional specs, timelines, and budgets. Mentor junior designers, contributing to the future of automation design.
Document & Standardize: Own the creation of customer manuals, from BOMs to maintenance guides, while developing department standards and best practices.

Requirements
About You
You are a highly skilled professional with a background in industrial automation and a passion for designing and optimizing advanced manufacturing systems. With 3–5 years of experience in industrial automation for advanced manufacturing, you bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this role. You hold an Electrical or Mechatronics engineering degree or technologist diploma, and your proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical, complemented by experience with tools like AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN, makes you an asset to any team. You are well-versed in custom machine building processes, including industrial robots, pneumatics, and CSA safety standards, and your strong analytical thinking, planning, and execution abilities ensure success in your work.
You are detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and quality. Your effective research and information-gathering skills support your ability to troubleshoot and solve problems efficiently, while your excellent communication skills enable you to collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders. You thrive under pressure, meeting deadlines and managing multiple project tasks with confidence and precision.
