Job Description
Shop Helper
Givens Engineering Inc. is looking for a reliable and hardworking Shop Helper to join our team. This is a hands-on position involving general shop duties, property maintenance, lawn care, snow removal, and pickups and deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Move and organize materials, parts, tools, and equipment
- Load and unload materials and deliveries
- Pick up and drop off parts, materials, supplies, and equipment
- Drive company vehicles for local pickups and deliveries
- Travel between company facilities as required
- Occasionally make deliveries to our U.S. facility
- Prepare materials and parts for machining, welding, painting, and assembly
- Assist with grinding, deburring, drilling, cutting, and other basic shop tasks
- Use hand and power tools safely
- Keep the shop, work areas, and equipment clean and organized
- Perform general building and property maintenance
- Maintain lawns and landscaped areas, including mowing and trimming
- Perform snow removal during the winter months
- Keep entrances, walkways, parking areas, and work areas clear of snow and ice
- Assist with general maintenance and housekeeping around the property
- Follow all company safety procedures and instructions
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
- Valid G driver's licence with a clean driving record
- Valid Canadian passport and ability to travel to the United States for occasional work-related deliveries
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial, maintenance, landscaping, or similar environment is an asset
- Comfortable driving company vehicles for pickups and deliveries
- Comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools
- Ability to operate lawn and snow-removal equipment is an asset
- Good physical condition and ability to lift and move materials
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to safety
