Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator

Job Summary: The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator at Sodecia Automotive London will serve as the subject matter expert in occupational health and safety matters, collaborating closely with the Human Resources & Safety Manager to ensure comprehensive support across all business areas.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert problem-solving, analysis, training, and coaching related to safety improvements and ergonomic enhancements.
  • Coordinate and manage the reporting and investigation of work-related accidents (5PB), ensuring timely corrective actions are implemented.
  • Develop action plans and conduct internal and external safety audits to address plant safety and environmental issues, ensuring compliance with policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate all WSIB matters including return to work and accommodation processes.
  • Coordinate 5S audits, oversee the implementation of corrective actions, and coordinate daily 5S audits.
  • Select appropriate personal protective equipment to mitigate workplace risks, ensuring cost-effective control and monitoring.
  • Promote a culture of zero accidents among associates, encouraging adherence to incident reporting policies.
  • Advise management on legislative changes and new legal requirements affecting health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Act as a mentor and advisor to associates and management on safety-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate records and filing systems for health & safety and environmental compliance.
  • Prepare and review safety reports to analyze the causes and severity of accidents and diseases, implementing preventive and corrective actions as necessary.
  • Participate actively in new equipment/tool definition phases to ensure compliance with safety requirements and ergonomic best practices.
  • Implement and coordinate actions required by PDSSMA (Director Plan for Health, Safety & Environment).
  • Support environmental programs and act as backup Environmental Management Representative (EMR) to ensure compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Develop, facilitate, and coordinate safety training sessions in accordance with legal and company requirements.
  • Ensure subcontractors are aware of specific risks and comply with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Take immediate action to halt any activity that jeopardizes the health or safety of associates or third parties, promptly informing appropriate management.

Education & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience is required, preferably in the automotive industry
  • ISO 14001 knowledge and experience is a requirement
  • ISO 14001 internal auditor training and certification an asset
  • Forklift, Overhead Crane certification is an asset
  • Bachelor's degree or College education in safety engineering, industrial engineering, management, or similar field.
  • Certification in safety training according to local legal requirements.
  • Experience with OSHAS 18001, 5S Methodology.
  • Experience in an organization with a strong safety culture is advantageous.

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based role with exposure to moderate noise and dust in the manufacturing environment.

Safety and Housekeeping:

  • Adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with OHSA.
  • Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations throughout the plant.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe workplace in the department.
  • Adhere to Environmental Program ISO 14001 elements and regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
