We are seeking an Intermediate Accountant who is aspiring to reach their potential. Reporting to the Controller, the Associate Accountant will be an integral part of the Business Intelligence team reporting, budgeting, analysis, and compliance.
Environment
The Intermediate Accountant will be integral to our financial strategy and operations. You'll assist the Controller in managing accounting practices, maintaining fiscal records, and preparing detailed financial reports. This role involves overseeing general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls. How you will make an IMPACT
- Knowledge of ASPE, project accounting, financial account reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
- Assist in monthly accounting procedures and deliverables, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reports in compliance with GAAP.
- Reconcile bank transactions on a weekly basis.
- Prepare entries for capital lease, operating lease, and loan payments.
- Record monthly PP&E depreciation entries.
- Assist with year-end working papers and preparation for any audits or independent reviews.
- Assist in maintaining policy and procedure documentation for complex financial and accounting issues.
- Furnish internal reports, revise and update reports to be more useful and efficient and furnish external reports as necessary.
- Assist with providing effective financial controls for the organization.
- Handle monthly reconciliation of PP&E additions and disposals.
- Cost monthly inventory usage to projects.
- Reconcile intercompany transactions and maintain GL balances.
- Adhere to all applicable federal and provincial regulations and company policies.
- Continuously improve accounting processes and controls.
- Perform other duties relevant to the position as required.

- Degree or Diploma, preferably in accounting, business or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ accounting experience.
- Experience in auditing, financial reporting, cost accounting, or general accounting.
- A team player able to build and maintain lasting relationships with key business partners.
