The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Machinist to join our Operations team in London, Ontario, for the manufacturing of Synaptive’s MRI product. The Machinist will have the opportunity to fabricate intricate components for the production of sophisticated, sensitive, electromechanical assemblies for Magnetic Resonance Imaging applications. We are looking for a go-getter who is quality focused with a continuous improvement mindset to deliver efficient and consistent outputs for our Manufacturing team.
 
What You’ll Do
  • Fabricate, assemble, and inspect components following Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines, ISO Standards, and approved specifications and/or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Set up and operate waterjet cutter, CNC router, and other equipment as necessary to fabricate metallic and non-metallic components following drawings, specifications, and/or work instructions
  • Determine setup requirements and sequence of operations to ensure finished outputs meet design specifications & tolerances and perform secondary operations on fabricated components as required (i.e. epoxying and rolling of machined components)
  • Select and/or fabricate fixtures, cutting tools, and attachments for the fabrication of components as required
  • Observe machine operation, troubleshoot & correct malfunctions and/or out-of-tolerance machining errors as required
  • Inspect & verify conformance of finished outputs to specifications using measuring/inspection tools
  • Perform standard maintenance & assist in qualification activities of equipment/tools as required
  • Recommend & support the implementation of optimized technical methods to meet manufacturing process requirements, product requirements, and quality assurance, while minimizing overall production costs
  • Provide recommendations & support implementation of Lean Manufacturing & continuous improvement activities for product manufacturability and serviceability
  • Support the development & update of manufacturing work instructions and documentation as required
  • Communicate production status, deviations, issues, and general information as required
  • Work with team members & coordinate with other departments to meet requirements of schedule, quality, and safety
  • Assist with all health and safety procedures in the machining & related areas, including the enforcement of all company health and safety policies
  • Perform other manufacturing related tasks as assigned

What You’ll Need
  • College or advanced diploma or equivalent in precision machining, tool and die, or millwright
  • Completion of a Machinist apprenticeship program and/or 3+ years related experience
  • Experience with machine tools including milling machines, lathes, CNC machines
  • Experience with hand tools and metrological tools
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings including GD&T
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices

  • Experience with waterjet cutter
  • Experience with CAM software
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing principles & applications
  • Experience working in an ISO regulated environment
  • Experience with day-to-day operation of Stratasys 3D production-grade 3D printer
