Description

JOB SUMMARY

Work with a cross-functional, highly skilled team of Mechanical Designers to develop automation processes and create, designs for custom automation systems that are innovative, high quality, functional machines and meet customer specifications and timeline.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Develop and create mechanical designs in SolidWorks for custom automation systems
  • Generate innovative concepts for technically advanced factory automation solutions in a wide variety of projects and industries
  • Present concept designs to the internal team and with customer
  • Identify and research key mechanical components for the project that meet customer requirements
  • Create and assemble detailed drawing packages for the build team that include tolerance/dimensions, bills of materials, and assembly drawings
  • Review and analyze mechanical designs to identify areas it can be optimized
  • Identify, troubleshoot and develop solutions to mechanical build issues
  • Ability to identify design risks, understand project scope and customer specifications
  • Mentoring/Coaching/Training of new or junior employees

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Design and 5+ years in the custom automation industry
  • Computer Expertise: SolidWorks, Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge:

  • Strong working knowledge of developing concepts and finalizing designs for multiple projects.
  • Thorough understanding of custom automation machine design including collaborative robots, vision systems, laser systems, assembly, welding, etc.
  • Understanding of mechanical purchased components required including how they work, how long they last and specifications to ensure they are sized properly
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and details

Skills & Abilities

  • Proven Leadership capabilities with a high level of commitment and workflow output.
  • Effective timeline, budget, and project management skills
  • Ability to lead a team and maintain group performance on a regular basis
  • Excellent teamwork and team building skills
