We are looking for a Plant Engineer to join the team at our window manufacturing facility in London, Ontario.

Job Description

  • Act as a technical resource for internal and external customers on all Canadian window products; manage the technical information; update the AMI technical center to include Canadian products as well as update shape min/max dimensions, drawing library and exploded product views 
  • Lead efforts to improve Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) in home site and share results, data and solutions across all sites
  • Provide training to Gentek team members on kaizen concepts, principles, tools and implementation, lead and execute Kaizen activities on the shop floor, directly engaging with team members and processes
  • Define and follow up all kaizen activities in order to achieve all the Kaizen targets utilizing PDCA process
  • Manage projects by providing site employees or vendors with engineering specifications of new equipment and required tooling; maintain project timelines; continuously evaluate actual project costs versus budgeted costs to complete projects on budget; and oversee the installation and start-up of new equipment or installation of tooling
  • Analyze production and maintenance data to identify root cause of down time and scrap and execute irreversible corrective actions and continuous improvement activities
  • Develop and implement tools to improve manufacturing processes or tooling life cycle improvements to assure profitability, quality and safety of plant products
  • Assist the manufacturing and/or continuous improvement units with equipment or tooling related issues as required.
  • Provide data driven recommendations for capital optimization and manage capital projects
  • Work with corporate engineering and sales on new product development for the Canadian market; approve and document product changes (ECN, PENC etc.)
  • Provide technical training for site maintenance and production resources as necessary
  • Improve and maintain documentation for site production assets
  • Conduct capability studies on new and existing processes
  • Interface with key equipment and tooling suppliers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Process/Manufacturing engineering within a manufacturing/production environment
  • Proven knowledge and experience with WCM or Lean Manufacturing methodologies for Workplace Organization, including Value Stream Mapping (VSM), VA / NVA measurement, 5S program, Visual Control, SMED, JIT, OEE, SWOT, Poka-Yoke (error proofing), line layout design, time study techniques, root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act equipment safety requirements
