Quality Assurance Manager

This position reports directly to Quality Assurance Director and will have a high level of collaboration with Maintenance, Production, Sanitation and Warehouse.
Inovata Foods Corp.is looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to partner with us as we bring families and friends together through offering wholesome and convenient meals. The role is located in our Tillsonburg, Ontario facility. Inovata Foods Corp. is a major producer of wholesome control brand frozen meals for many of North America's largest retailers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, direct and follow up on the activities of the Quality Assurance team.
- Verify that all Food Safety, Quality Assurance and Regulatory programs (including laboratory) are functioning as designed, followed and correctly documented.
- Promptly and adequately investigate product/process failures, determine root cause and corrective and preventative actions to ensure and continuously improve food safety and quality, while minimizing production downtime.
- Revise and update Food Safety and Quality programs and procedures as directed.
- Accountable for the preparation and the execution of CFIA daily verification tasks; participates in the SQF annual recertification audit, customer audit, and USDA/FDA food safety system assessments. Ensures appropriate corrective actions resulting from any food safety and quality findings are identified and carried out.
- Align activities to drive Quality KPI's and meet Objectives.
- Develop and foster a strong working relationship with the CFIA.
- Identify technical training requirements for the team and their individual development plans.
- Approve “Management of Change” activities specific to food safety and quality.
- Manage the site Quality team to assure skill development and build clear succession planning.
- Manages daily attendance and provides feedback on performance and provide training opportunities which align with development plans.
- Support the site implementation of all new products, line extensions and continuous food safety and quality improvement projects including the effective execution of line trials and process capability evaluations.
- Ensure timely release of finished goods once the requirements of the positive release program have been satisfied.
- Ensure that Export procedures are up-to-date, complete and accurate and that all Export requirements are met for the country of export.
- Prevent HACCP, SSOP and process or product failures and Operations to drive continuous improvement of product quality through developing food safety and quality plans, process controls, attention to process and specifications, food safety and quality training.
- Responsible for the on-going interpretation and reporting of information from our customers and consumers, and the identification and analysis of trends, which may trigger an investigation.
- Ensure training of hourly employees on GMPs, Food Safety, Food Security and Food Fraud, CQP's and CCP's takes place.
- Ensure compliance with the Food Safety Management System and Program (SQF).
- Administer disciplinary procedures and ensure all disciplines meet the criteria of the Progressive Discipline Policy.
- Perform other related duties as required by Quality Assurance Director.
- In the absence of the Quality Supervisor and Quality Specialists, the QA Manager will cover this role.
- In the absence of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Director will provide directions.
- In the absence of the Quality Assurance Director, the QA Manager will assist to provide information and direction as required.

Requirements:
- Must possess a post-secondary education in a related field and three (3) to four (4) years related experience.
- A post-secondary degree in food science would be an asset.
- Must possess an understanding and working knowledge of HACCP.
- Must have quality assurance experience in a food processing environment.
- Must possess good interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Must possess adequate computer and administrative skills.
Working Conditions:
The job predominantly entails deskwork. However, occasional physical activities such as walking, standing, and light lifting may be required. Additionally, the job often involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams within the plant and in some areas can be cold, wet, and damp.
