Position Summary
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for the execution of defined processes and delivery of a high level of customer service in the procurement of goods and services for PakFab Engineered Solutions. The Senior Buyer will partake in negotiations with vendors if needed, troubleshoot any material shortages, coordinate, and report on PO status as well as to create and follow through on purchase orders based on production requirements from start to finish. Additional tasks for the Senior Buyer are but not limited to developing, managing, and coordinating a team, while playing a role in supervising purchasing activities carried out and fostering a culture of expertise and motivation in staff.

- Work with colleagues when necessary to resolve customer complaints by providing solutions, in a timely manner to ensure the customer is satisfied.
- Develops and maintains relationships with wholesalers and suppliers.

Responsibilities
- Research, select and purchase quality products and materials.
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
- Researches, analyzes, and forecasts current and future buying trends, markets, styles, and products with attention to specified target market and demographics.
- Fostering a positive work environment by promoting open communication, teamwork, and employee engagement
- Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
- Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
- Develops and maintains relationships with wholesalers and suppliers.
- Supports negotiations of contracts with wholesalers and suppliers.
- Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
- Coordinate with inventory team, management, and stockroom as required.
- Assess the quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
- Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
- Advise Material Estimating dept of any price changes or vendor changes.
- Working to improve purchasing systems and processes.
- Understand in depth company process, capabilities, target markets, and core competencies.
- Procure and place orders for goods, materials, and services for the organization in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Research and survey buying markets to source the most optimal suppliers, in accordance with corporate objectives.
- Coordinate all purchases with inventory or warehouse managers to ensure rapid delivery and reception of goods and/or services.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- College/University degree or diploma in a related discipline or equivalent job experience and knowledge
- 3+ years’ experience in purchasing
- Demonstrated ability to work with and influence others.
- Due diligence in privacy & confidentiality
- Experience in leading and managing a team
- Demonstratable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A strong analytical mindset
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Desire to manage a team with a result driven approach.
- Proficient with MS Office and purchasing software
- Excellent time management skills
- Exceptional leadership skills
- Knowledge of current materials / products sold
- Knowledge of basic blueprints
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
Work Conditions
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Clean office environment
- Travel to off-site locations may be required
- PPE will be required if entering the production area
