The Opportunity
The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for metal stamping tooling, analyzing specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges.
 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ability to build dies and fixtures from sketches or drawings of parts to be produced.
  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine methods of manufacturing and materials required.
  • Consult with Maintenance Manager as to what press/production tooling will be used to fabricate parts. 
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble simple to complex assemblies and/or dies. 
  • Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly methods and sequence of operations.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining, taking into consideration fit and clearance requirements.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shaper, and surface grinder to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
  • Lifts machined parts and positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable.
  • Flat and form grind on manual or automatic surface grinder and hold +/- .0003 tolerance and fits and assembles parts together and assemblies and mechanisms.
  • Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
  • Determines heat treat requirements for tools/dies and parts.
  • Connects wiring and hydraulic lines to install electrical and hydraulic components.
  • Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures, and recommends design improvements regarding construction and functionality of part to improve performance and longevity.
  • Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and collaborates with Engineering team to draw design of product or tooling.
 
What You Need


The technical nature of this position requires the candidate to be a journeyman tool and die person, with five to ten years’ experience in the field of light gauge sheet metal stamping/forming. Hold a valid 430A Tool and Die Certificate
 
Shift Overview
Day shift: 6:30am- 3:00pm
