Buyer, Indirect

Position Summary

Strathroy, Ontario is one of two sites located in Canada offering softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries. We have a broad range of integrated formulation, manufacturing, analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Buyer will control the implementation of strategic procurement initiatives by managing MRP demand information in conjunction with assigned purchasing and inventory control responsibilities.  The Buyer will focus on indirect procurement.

Hours: 8:00 AM-4:30 PM or 8:30 AM-5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch | hybrid role, 2 days remote per week

Location: can sit in either Strathroy, ON or Windsor, ON location.

The Role

• Review and analyze daily MRP data for Indirect requirements, managing purchase cost, procurement projects and inventory value considerations.

• Liaise with internal customers to explore and identify opportunities for value-addition.

• Reporting savings and process improvement throughout the organization.

• Proactive development of competitive sourcing opportunities in all areas of assigned responsibilities (materials, equipment, supplies, services, etc.).  Perform cost and value analysis to support purchase recommendations/decisions.  Ensure Vendor Quality compliance/requirements are achieved.

• Contribute to the strategic development of supply base management and company initiatives as required.

• Issuance, maintenance and follow up of purchase orders and MRP item master input and maintenance.

• Reactively respond to fluctuations/dynamics from both external and internal material demands and availabilities (i.e., market supply issues, material availability disruption, contaminated materials, etc.). Resolve customs issues as required.

• Must be able to work extended hours, weekends as needed, especially when problems occur or when deadlines must be met.

• Perform other duties as required.

The Candidate

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferred in business, Finance or Engineering.

• 3+ years of experience in Procurement or related field required.

• Experience working in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility.

• Experience in RFP procedures, quote analysis, PO issuance and contract management. Thorough knowledge of MRP database systems. Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing and contracting techniques and procedures.

• Considerable knowledge of laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to corporate purchasing practices with strong writing skills for creating reports, correspondence, contracts, requests, bids, and other documentation.
