Machinist Apprentice (2nd or 3rd Year)

Givens Engineering has an opportunity for an apprentice machinist to join our growing team.

At Givens Engineering our team designs and fabricates industrial lifting equipment, custom tooling, and automated systems. We are the largest manufacturer of manipulators and cranes in Canada serving a vast range of industries such as automotive, food processing, plastic and chemical, pharmaceutical, defence, and many more.

Machinist apprentices will be responsible for manufacturing various components utilizing manual and CNC equipment.

• Maintain and follow all Safety Standards and Guidelines
• Machining of large and small parts
• Apprentice under senior employee to learn to perform set up and machining operations
• Verify dimensions of machined features for accuracy and conformance to specifications using various measuring instruments
• Responsible for maintaining product quality during machining cycle
• General shop cleaning duties and routine equipment maintenance
• Apprentice, under senior employees, will learn to create new programs and edit existing programs, for a variety CNC machine tools
• Assist the Shift Supervisor on the floor as needed with any additional duties required by the company

Experience with the following types of equipment and controls would be considered an asset;

• Bridgeport style mills with Acu-rite controls
• CNC vertical mills (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas)
• CNC horizontal boring mill (Siemens)
• CNC lathes (Fanuc, Haas, Fagor)
• Mastercam
• SolidWorks / SolidWorks CAM

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $23.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Overtime
