Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Production the Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading the Sanitation function for the site in accordance with the standards and safety objectives as established by Senior Management. In this role, the Supervisor will be responsible for leading the sanitation staff across all shifts.  This position will be responsible for the supervision of the Sanitation team as well as all aspects of sanitation as they are done for each individual line.

 

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Translate sanitation requirements into daily work schedule and direct staff in various departments in the execution of the work in accordance with GMP and SSOP/SOP requirements
  • Ensure the sites sanitation practices meet all legislative, internal and external audit requirements
  • Manage staff on all shifts by providing leadership and coaching while fostering positive relationships with Sanitation team
  • Work in collaboration within the production team with the Production Supervisors to meet sanitation requirements/directives on off shifts.
  • Work in collaboration with all departments to ensure a clean, safe working environment for all staff,
  • Establish a team-based work environment where continuous improvement initiatives, department performance and personal achievement are promoted and rewarded
  • Ensures KPI targets are achieved including safety, quality, efficiencies, cost, and health and safety
  • Promote the plant’s safety programs and policies in order to reduce employee accidents and injuries by providing safety training and enforcing safety practices at all times
  • Troubleshoot and lead problem-solving efforts through the facilitation of team meetings and on-the-floor leadership to effectively change systems and procedures through the process of continuous improvement;
  • Ensure the Company’s quality and sanitation standards are met through close liaison with Quality Assurance and full participation in the HACCP program
  • Perform annual performance evaluations, monitor attendance, and address performance issues
  • Other duties as assigned

 

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Food Science or a related field, or equivalent experience is an asset  
  • Minimum five (5) years supervisory experience in food manufacturing or packaging, preferably dairy manufacturing
  • Experience in successfully leading, coaching, motivating and developing a team in a “hands on” environment
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated analytical organizational skills
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented, possess high degree of initiative, work well under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional attitude and the ability to interact with various individuals
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word , Excel
