Fixed Term Production Technician

** This is a 6 month fixed term contract position

 

Who will you be working with?

Our division, Bach-Simpson, is the lead Event Recorder OEM in the North American Transit market. It designs, develops, assembles, and maintains various electronic equipment for trains. The Production Team in this division is responsible for the assembly and testing of Bach-Simpson products and projects.

 

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Production Team at Bach-Simpson, you will report to the Production Manager. As a Production Test Technician, you will be responsible for testing and servicing our products, as well as some assembly tasks (which will include crimping and soldering).

 

What do we want to know about you?

The following are the required qualifications for this role:

· Post secondary diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering

· 1 to 3 years of experience in the electronics industry

· Must demonstrate ability to use various test equipment, including oscilloscope & multi-meter, manual and semi-automated verifiers

· Must demonstrate excellence in soldering

· Must demonstrate knowledge of electronics and Windows operating systems, and detail-oriented inspection skills

· Ability to work independently

· Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the team, assisting and advising on technical matters as required

 

What will your typical day look like?

The following are essential responsibilities for this role:

· Participating in weekly stand-up meetings with the team

· Testing event recorders, speedometers, control modules, etc.

· Reporting of test results via formal test reports

· Using hi-pot testing equipment

· Troubleshooting and maintaining equipment returned for service

· Logging progress updates in Bugzilla Item Tracker

 

What about the physical demands of the job?

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary. Periodic lifting or moving of event recorders that weigh approximately 50lbs.
