Junior Accountant

Introduction

 

The Junior Accountant will work closely with Motif’s finance team and report directly to the CFO. The successful applicant will have accounting experience, is detail oriented and has superior analytical skills. They must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment, meet deadlines in a rapidly changing business environment, and communicate efficiently and effectively at all levels of the organization.

Motif Labs is a licensed cannabis extraction facility located in SW Ontario. Motif operates as a business-to-business enterprise, offering toll processing and contract manufacturing services to Licensed Producers (LP's) and 3rd Party Brands. Position

 

  • Maintain accurate accounting records on a daily basis
  • Preparation of accurate and timely invoices that align with the Motif’s manufacturing servicing agreement
  • Allocate costs and expenditures related to manufacturing as appropriate to the proper product lines when applicable
  • Prepare a weekly cash flow projection for the finance team
  • Prepare month end accounting procedures and supporting working papers
  • Prepare monthly financial reports as well as monthly financial reports for key business segments and products
  • Identify trends, variances and inconsistences based on the above financial reports and inform appropriate level of management
  • Preparation and filing of various monthly reporting to government entities, including but not limited to excise tax duties, GST/HST and other government remittances
  • Assist in the development of budgets, prepare actual versus budgets and provide insight on variances
  • Assist in the refinement of quoting aids and tools for members of the team
  • Continual review in order to maintain a working knowledge of income taxes, excise tax at the federal and provincial rates, an other taxes as applicable to the cannabis industry
  • Prepare supporting documentation as required by other departments (R&D, grants, applications etc.)

 

Required Skills

 

  • Member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario
  • 2+ Years accounting experience in the CPA field
  • Either holding or pursuing their CPA Designation
  • Proficient with Excel and Quickbooks or similar accounting software
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting
  • Detailed oriented with superior analytical skills
