POSITION OVERVIEW

This Associate Sensory Scientist will be responsible for conducting all aspects of sensory testing to provide product insights to both our internal and external customers. Communicates regularly with Corporate Sensory to ensure use of sensory resources and consistent use of methods. This position interacts with internal customers on a daily basis

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organizes, designs, conducts, reports on, and interprets sensory evaluations which consist of analyses of taste, odor, appearance, and texture of food products using consumers or inexperienced, experienced, and/or trained panelists.         
  • Provides technical assistance in the field of sensory evaluation to McCormick units and their customers worldwide and to other outside companies.        
  • Responsible to manage the day-to-day sensory activities including lab support during sensory panels       
  • Responsible for staying current with literature and information about sensory evaluation   
  • Attend business related meetings for assigned teams.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSc in Food Science / Nutrition / Sensory / Other Science
  • 1-3 years’ experience in Laboratory or Commercial Food Preparation role.  
  • Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing extremely well.
  • Organization skills critical to plan and organize sensory tests
  • Leadership skills - critical to manage projects and be sensory contact for internal /external customers
  • Communication Skills - Excellent Technical Writer 
  • Computer Skills - Efficient in computer software such as Microsoft office outlook, word, excel, powerpoint, and adaptable to learning new software programs

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Sensory coursework preferred
  • Composes software experience
  • Practical knowledge of sensory methodologies and their applications a plus.
