Full Job Description

Purpose of Position:

Create graphics for flexographic printing and generate film for flexographic plates in a timely, accurate, professional manner. This position can lead to additional advancement through training in some of our skilled trades at Sterling.

Result Areas of the Position:

To ensure all orders completed and process all orders to meet customer’s required delivery date

Qualifications:

·Advanced knowledge of Mac operating system and related programs (illustrator 8, photo shop 5, Quark X Press 4, Free Hand 8, Page Maker 6)

· Advanced knowledge of flexo printing including colour cut backs for dot gain, modifications trapping of multi colour graphics preferred

·Up-to-date experience with tape, label and plastic flexographic applications preferred

·Knowledge of bar coding software-ability to create and verify

·Consulting with customers to problem solve printing quality and applications

· Ability to work with minimal supervision

·Reliable attendance

·Conscientious work habits

·Detail oriented, focus to task

·Ability to meet time sensitive deadlines and delivery schedules

· Aptitude and desire to juggle workflow and multiple tasks to meet customers demands

· Ability to work directly with customers and fellow employees in professional manner

· Team player

· Bilingual French an asset

Activities and Tasks:

·Scanning images for high resolution output

·Calibrating lino for various line screens

·Create multi-colour spot and process graphics for flexographic job

·Colour separate or colour correct, trapping, multi-colour graphics to customer specifications

·Produce film including correct modification, line screens, registration

·Produce and verify bar codes to customer specifications

·Create and print full colour posters to HP printer

·Report production activity as requested

·Ability to communicate with customers enter orders, imports, related production tasks, running some production equipment

· Reject and reprocess orders when necessary

· Record on daily production logs

· Quality check orders against ISO requirements

· Overtime required on occasion

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $16.00-$19.00 per hour

Experience:

• Graphic Software: 1 year (required)
