Production Manager

Overview

Our London Plant is seeking a Production Manager.  You will be responsible for supervision and development of manufacturing supervisors and associates while successfully managing order prioritization and planning, data analysis and reporting, and most importantly driving continuous execution and improvement against Pactiv's KPIs - Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost.  The position serves as an integral part of the manufacturing leadership team and works extensively with internal groups (quality, planning, materials management purchasing etc) as well as external Finance, Customer Service, Engineering and Senior Leadership functions.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Production Manager has the primary responsibility to direct and maintain all aspects of production for an assigned shift to assure maximum efficiency and maintenance of necessary quality and inventory levels, consistent with product and order specifications and delivery dates.

 

  • Complies with all EHS policies, procedures and safe work instructions in place
  • Complies with SOX audit requirements
  • Reviews daily production schedules
  • Maintains complete records of shift operations (i.e., equipment performance, supplies used, inventory levels etc.                                                                                                                               
  • Assigns, directs, assists and counsels employees to achieve maximum effectiveness, delegating responsibility  and authority as appropriate
  • Maintains specified efficiencies, scrap limits, and minimum product returns for shift operations
  • Regularly seeks ways to reduce scrap and to apply innovative ideas in planning jobs including ways to run equipment and schedule employees more efficiently
  • Administers company policies relative to shift operations, including overtime scheduling, filling jobs, etc
  • Maintains positive employee relations through effective communication and leadership
  • Coordinates with production planning and sales service staff and other shift supervisors to ensure accurate and timely communication of order specifications and customer delivery needs and to ensure smooth shift-to-shift operations and maximum efficiency of operations
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with other plant supervisory and administrative staff
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the Plant Manager

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years production management experience in a manufacturing environment with proven leadership capabilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, engineering or related field, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven managerial experience. 
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources).
  • Demonstrated collaborative ability in dynamic organizational environments.
  • Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
  • Previous experience as a LEAN Manufacturing change agent and knowledge of Kaizen principles is an asset
  • SAP and MS-Office Suite expertise
