Project Manager

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for the overall direction, management, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific projects, ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals.

The Project Manager leads all required activities and resources, controlling the deliverables and transitioning from design to serial production.

Project management starts from the design stage to handover for serial production with respect to project timing, budget control, and parts quality. Project Manager is responsible for meeting project timing, budget control, parts quality, and managing change requests from the customer should they be required.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for managing project following Arkal's defined NPI process:

a) Projects/Parts to be manufactured at Arkal London

b) Manage the project and its deliverables according to Arkal procedures.

  • Following the project schedule and implementation of project.
  • Be familiar with the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Define the project tasks and resource requirements.
  • Assemble and coordinate with other project staff.
  • Monitor and control the project cost to be in line with the project-approved budget.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines.
  • Track project deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Project quality.
  • Assist with the direction of the core team within the project's scope with directive authority to achieve the project goals for Time, Quality, and Cost.
  • Constantly monitor and report on the progress of the project to all relevant colleagues.
  • Obtain solutions to issues/bottlenecks with the relevant team members (Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Supply chain).
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems, and solutions.
  • Implement and support project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
  • Project evaluations and results assessment.
  • Communication and representing the company in front of the customer manage with the marketing department (Technical, Financial, Timing, Quality).
  • Assist or support trials at the site and reaching the final part dimension, quality introduction to the site.
  • Monitor the project budget. Perform cost reductions and improve the project's profitability.
  • Any other activities/job duties as directed.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Mechanical Engineer or Industrial & Management Engineer, and/or 5 years of related experience, or a combination of training, education, and experience.
  • Experience in project management, building a schedule, budget control and working with suppliers and customers.
  • Knowledge in reading drawings / 3D and working in a matrix organization.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedures and manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and Arkal team members.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Customers, suppliers, managers, and employees.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer software
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of customers, develop personal initiative and problem-solving ability.
  • Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Read and interpret documents such as APQP procedures and Arkal's manuals.
  • Familiar with contract law and procurement process.
  • Negotiation, management, decision making and coordination abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritizing tasks and meeting schedules.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Interfacing with the customer at customer sites, engineering (site and HQ), quality, purchasing & logistics, supply chain, marketing, site project management and collaborating with other project managers at other sites.
  • Travel when required. Must hold a valid Canadian passport and be able to travel outside of Canada.
