Production Manager
Position Description
Reporting to the President/CEO, the Production Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling, and supervising operations of the production and packaging areas of the facility.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Managing the Warehouse Supervisor and Packaging Supervisor, and their teams as a whole
- Responsible for using forecasted and actual sales and order volumes to plan production volumes of the six varieties of cheese and two varieties of butter we produce, and reporting those planned and scheduled volumes to the floor Supervisors
- Managing order volumes and ensuring the Packaging Supervisor has finished product ready for shipments.
- Ensure production and packaging are following all GMP, HACCP, health and safety, and internal protocols and practices
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and in general keep the operation running smoothly
- Primary Objectives
- Plan and schedule production volumes each week, and maintenance of ingredient, work in progress, and finished product volumes in the facility
- Most senior staff on the floor, point of contact for communicating issues to the floor, and main contact for floor reporting issues to the rest of the management team
- Working with the rest of the management team in designing and implementing new systems and programs as they are developed and rolled out.
- Maintain and, whenever possible, improve the efficiency of the production process and the team that works in that area.
- Participate in future planning of the company and facility, primarily focused on equipment needs, volume growth, and improving efficiency.
- Job Requirements
- Education and Experience
Knowledge and experience in: Industrial food production
Excellent skills in: planning and forecasting
Excellent skills in: team management
Intermediate level skills in: Microsoft Office (primarily Excel)
Demonstrated ability to: lead a team of no less than 10
Preferred experience in: Organic/Fairtrade food storage and inventory control
- Degree or equivalent experience: Management or food production
- Years of experience: 3-5
- Experience with Six Sigma and/or ISO processes in an asset.
- Equipment maintenance experience is an asset.
