Process Engineer

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to maintenance and operations groups including process studies, troubleshooting, process optimization, and analysis of historical data to identify, monitor and control key operating parameters.
  • Provide technical support to the plant safety professional and plant staff on facility safety initiatives when designing and/or redesigning work processes to eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses. Work closely with JHSC when conducting Pre-Start Health & Safety Reviews.
  • Keep historical data, to analyze and to monitor key efficiencies and parameters against design to assist Operations with meeting costs and production goals.
  • Execute projects as necessary (meet budget and schedule, supervise construction, train personnel, supervise startup, conduct interdepartmental coordination with QC/QA, safety, health and environmental, and maintenance) or being a member of a project team that executes projects.
  • Ensure that proper documentation and drawings are produced and maintained. This includes providing the appropriate documentation to production, systems, and maintenance departments.
  • Leverage analytical and problem-solving activities to support plant management on the identification of key success drivers and execution of improvement objectives.
  • Identify training needs and opportunities and assist in the development and delivery of training programs for process operators and maintenance personnel as required. Understand and integrate business and technical needs into all activities.
  • Develops and validates training program, Standard Operating Procedural documentation and establishes technical competency requirements.
  • Help facilitate departmental Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on all incidents and ensure corrective actions are communicated to the plant.
  • Lead and facilitate Continuous Improvement problem solving projects (PDCA, Kaizen, SMED, LSS) that support plant performance enhancement at all dimensions.
  • Lead/act as a change agent to achieve continuous improvement and performance focused culture.
  • Coach and mentor plant teams/ individuals to ensure successful completion of IPS implementation and CI activities.
  • Drive and support cost reduction initiatives, productivity enhancement and quality to deliver Cost Savings target for the area.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Chemical, Industrial or Food Engineering desired. Work experience and alternate education will be considered on a case by case basis.
  • Experience in Process/Production Engineering.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • PC literate with word processing, database, and spreadsheet experience.
  • Proficient or working towards proficiency in statistical data analysis.
  • Well-organized and team-oriented
  • Project management skills, including multi-tasking and time management.
  • Ability to lead a team and work as a team member with a variety of people at all levels within the organization.
