Job title: Secondary Team Leader

Location: Strathroy, ON.

Purpose

To act as a “working leader” in their assigned area. Operate, troubleshoot and perform checks on secondary machines as required. Assist operators in accomplishing their tasks and reaching targets

Responsibilities

· Training: Training operators and temporary employees in the safest and most productive way to run the equipment to reach prescribed targets. Motivate, coach and guide team members to encourage their development. Promoting teamwork by example. Ensuring that shift turnovers are performed effectively and in a timely manner. Ensure operators know how to navigate Plex to obtain information.

· Secondary machining: Operating equipment when called upon, during breaks, and for absences. Performing planned maintenance on all equipment in cell. Maintaining filtration and coolant system.

· Quality: Responsible for performing final audits. Ensuring that proper safety, quality, process and other checks are performed as prescribed (CMM, gauge checks, quality, etc). Assisting with quality related activities. Ensuring parts meet or exceed established quality criteria.

· Troubleshooting: Investigate quality or mechanical problems and assist operator, maintenance or process with correcting problem.

· Equipment Set-ups: Assisting and performing secondary machine set-ups as required. Ensuring that proper tools, equipment and materials are in place for the set-up and operation of the equipment.

· Safety: Safety checks as per schedule. Performing proper preventive maintenance, including documenting, so that equipment is kept in safe working order. Ensure co-workers in their area are wearing all appropriate personal protective equipment and following Plant Safety Rules.

· Housekeeping: Maintaining a clean and environmentally safe environment.

· Administrative: Assist in the completion of non-conforming reports and gathering data as required. Maintaining cell workstation by keeping paperwork current. Help completing investigations regarding incidents and accidents. Programming and troubleshooting various computer programs. Log any service repairs needed and communicate such repairs. Participating in operations and other team meetings.

· Continuous Improvement: Participate in 5S+1 activities including training, kaizens and projects.

· Other duties as required, including special projects as they arise.

Skills/Experience/Education

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in labour roles in a safety-oriented environment or similar manufacturing or die cast work experience.
  • Good knowledge of machining practices and equipment, hydraulics, troubleshooting, process monitoring and control, and of customer quality requirements
  • Have a proven ability to handle stress and multiple tasks well.
  • Very knowledgeable about safety rules and regulations
  • Must possess good problem solving, planning skills (team oriented), computer experience, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Be familiar with the OH&S Act and Regulations
