Role Purpose: The Manufacturing Manager will be accountable for leading the production teams which manufacture Wolfe Heavy Equipment products. This includes the Fabrication and Assembly teams. The role is accountable to define the operations strategy in support of Wolfe’s business strategy and goals. Defining the strategy and executing the transformation in an engaging way will be a key focus for this role.

The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for developing their team and conducting employee performance evaluations. They will identify, develop and coach high potential employees to deliver area results. The Manufacturing Manager will possess the capability to decompose department requirements into continuous improvement initiatives to deliver business results. Lead your team to identify areas where processes could be better optimized to deliver best in class customer value.

Reports To: Plant Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operations Excellence

  • Responsible for developing and effectively communicating the 1-year vision/strategy for production area to deliver business objectives
  • Identify and deploy the resources, systems and technical skills required to deliver projects
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPI’s) to monitor shop floor performance
  • Improve the overall performance of your team through implementation of lean initiatives including standard work
  • Organize & lead kaizen events leveraging a cross-functional team
  • Use problem solving techniques to analyze, identify root cause and permanently correct problems
  • Deploy 5S best practices within shop and coach team for sustainability

People Management

  • Identify, develop and coach high potential employees to deliver area results
  • Craft personal development plans with team members
  • Provide timely feedback for growth and personal development
  • Create bench strength on your team for future leaders
  • Ensure that team members follow defined assembly procedures and comply with quality requirements
  • Responsible for training of operators for products and manufacturing processes

General and Task Management

  • Address questions from associates pertaining to production processes or equipment operation
  • Ensure quality is achieved as per requirements
  • Ensure achievement of production throughput against stated capacity targets
  • Ensure the team is aware of day to day targets and responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain work standards for product costing and productivity measurement
  • Carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure
  • Communicate with team members and support personnel regarding issues impacting product, production, quality and safety across department

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Strong leadership skills (Min. 5 years of experience in a leadership position)
  • Solid production experience (Min. 5 years of relevant experience in a Manufacturing Environment)
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards such as lock-out/tag-out and incident reporting
  • Proven ability to work in a production oriented environment and perform against established performance standards (KPIs)
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience with employee performance reviews
  • Experience identifying, developing & coaching high potential employees
  • Experience leading a team through a lean transformation - capable of organizing and driving 5S/Kaizen, etc. events and maintaining standards
