Engineering Product Designer
Location: St. Thomas, ON
Come build the future with us! We are looking for a critical member of a cross functional team who will develop new products and modify existing products.
What you will bring:
- Degree in engineering or diploma’s may be considered
- Registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng. certification or EIT) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) may be considered.
- Engineering experience in product design in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to quickly learn technical subjects and Masco Systems
- Knowledge and experience with a variety of manufacturing processes and materials such as injection molding, casting, machining, assembly and component cleaning
- Good project and time management skills with experience in handling multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivated and to work in a multidisciplinary team environment as well as individually
- Capable of modifying or designing products and developing prototypes. Plumbing experience is an asset.
- Strong 3D modeling and detail design in Pro Engineer Wild Fire 2, Creo 5.0 or similar CAD program
- Working knowledge or ability to learn JDE and Teamcenter or similar MRP and vault system
- Ability to use product and component development practices such as design verification plan and report (DVP&R) and failure mode effect analysis (DFMEA)
- Familiar or ability to learn Canadian and US codes and standards such as the National Building Code and the CSA B125 standards for plumbing.
- Knowledgeable with Power Point, Excel and Word
- Develop new products and modify existing products
- Ensure product meets the design intent, is manufacturing friendly and meets applicable plumbing standards and building codes.
- Create drawings from proposal to final design with assistance of a senior team member
- Assist in creating design verification and report (DVP &R) and failure mode effect analysis (FMEA)
- Prepare reports when requested
- Maintain proper filing of information related to projects
- Responsible for accuracy of bill of materials
- Application of Brand standards and Engineering specifications for purchased and manufactured products.
- Troubleshoot production line issues, and supporting sourcing changes
- Complete Engineering Changes for BOM setup and modification
- Quick learner with excellent time management skills
- Self-motivated with above average written and verbal communication skills
- Interested in career progression at Masco Canada Limited
