Job Description
Position: Mechanical Designer Status: Full-time, OPEN
Renix is accepting applications to join the company’s team, seeking a motivated individual to join us as a Mechanical Designer.
The Mechanical Designer is a full-time position as a member of the Engineering & Project Delivery Group. Day-to-day work occurs at Renix’s offices and can include travel other locations in the US and Europe for example. Work will include:

Setting up and operating test equipment and models in support of system design and development.

Preparing test plans, sampling plans and procedures, and ensuring all test results and calculations are verified for accuracy.

Preparing complete and accurate physical and electronic project records. Creating formal technical reports and presentations.

Designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical equipment using CAD and CFD tools.

Working with relevant mechanical standards related to welding, process piping design, pressure vessel designs, and support structures, and food grade equipment design as may be required.

Creating detailed engineering design drawings and BOMs in support of equipment fabrication.

Work is to be completed following good design practices to ensure success and may involve developing standard practices.

Leveraging design drawings in support of material, equipment, and supplier selection including travel to supplier facilities for supplier evaluations and to ensure fabrications meet expectations.

Executing a range of tasks associated with the installation, startup and commissioning of Renix projects including engaging with customers, engineers, or contractors virtually and on site internationally.

Collaborating with other Engineering and Science team members to create integrated product designs meeting customer specifications and cost targets.
The role requires ability to create and execute tactical plans, organizational ability, attention to detail, and responsibility for accuracy and completeness of Mechanical Design activities.

Post-Secondary education in Mechanical Engineering

1-2 years relevant experience in R&D, Design or Project Engineering environments with exposure to demonstration testing and experimentation.

Experience in an OEM equipment manufacturing environment would be an asset.

Proficiency in the Autodesk suite of products including AutoCAD with exposure to Parametric Solid Modelling.

Knowledge of fluid dynamics and CFD software would be an asset as would experience with fluidized beds.

Hands-on technical aptitude and comfort working in a physically demanding environment, including working directly on equipment set-up, operation, and maintenance.

Knowledge of basic industrial instrumentation and controls and ability to troubleshoot liquid separation & purification processes desirable.

Ability to travel internationally as required, up to 80%.

Self-starter, attention to detail, ability to balance multiple tasks; adaptable and flexible in changing assignments and work pace; flexibility in schedule, comfortable working both in-office and remotely.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (spoken, written, and digital).

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
