Plant Accountant
Job Summary:
The Plant Accountant is responsible for providing accurate and timely financial and operational reporting for the entities.This role supports the Controller, Ventilation North America by analyzing production costs, variances, and inventory, and ensures adherence to accounting principles and company policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly financial statements, analysis, and supplemental reporting for senior management.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation.
- Analyze and report on production variances (material, labor, overhead).
- Track and report capital expenditures and ensure proper asset capitalization.
- Track and report product development projects.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the operations.
- Partner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation and physical inventory counts.
- Prepare, analyze, and publish weekly sales and production reports for management.
- Prepare reports and dashboards for management and department leads as required.
- Assist the Controller and senior management with ad hoc requests for the monitoring of the company’s financial position and progress.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and company policies.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
- Backup for AP and AR functions during vacation or high volume periods.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation.
- Ensure the confidentiality of financial and non-financial information.
- Other duties related to position as required.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
- CPA Designation or progress towards, an asset.
- Minimum Experience of 4 years in a related field, manufacturing preferred.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory control.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite ERP system is an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiasm to learn and be part of an evolving team.
