Automation Specialist

Job Overview

The Automation Specialist is responsible for working with Fanuc and ABB robots. The Automation Specialist will generate efficient layouts for robots to secure parts using Modular fixtures, program the robots, and ensure the robots run efficiently. They are accountable to produce parts to established requirements, working in accordance with ISO procedures.  

Duties listed may change as the Company evolves. Performing other duties as assigned is a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Accurately create offline programs quickly and efficiently
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing programs
  • Ensure high standards or workmanship
  • Ensure outputs meet production schedules, safety and quality standards, as well as customer needs
  • Always ensure proper use of required personal protective equipment
  • Collect and process information from drawings, Customers, the Production Team and Management to develop and program new robotic welding processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on time delivery
  • Configure, program and fine tune robots once simulation is loaded

Qualifications

  • Technologist diploma in Programming
  • Degree or diploma in Manufacturing, Engineering, CAD, CAM, AutoCAD, inventory, SolidWorks, SolidEdge or similar drafting software
  • Experience with manual Gas Metal Arc Welding
  • Technical understanding of welding processes and weld quality standards to ensure that weld quality is being upheld to customer requirements
  • Ability to program PLC’S and HMI’s
  • Solid comprehension of technical drawings
