Product Applications Specialist

Join us in Advancing the Environmental Global Impact within the Rail Industry

For the past 30 years, ZTR has designed, developed and released products that have a positive environmental impact within the Locomotive Industry. Planning for an environmentally sustainable future means taking action today in preparation for tomorrow. Everyone has a role to play and we take ours seriously.

ZTR offers a casual working environment and a group of friendly and talented industry leaders passionate about combating climate change. We encourage and support employees to find long-term success and explore opportunities that play into their strengths and passions. We value lateral moves as much as vertical promotions; we believe all roles should develop your skills, broaden your experience, and help you continue on a journey to build a rewarding career at ZTR.

What You’ll be Doing:

Are you passionate about supporting a more sustainable future? Do you enjoy understanding the customer's needs and providing them with greener and more reliable solutions? Are you data-driven and results-oriented? Whether it’s getting answers for customers quickly, consulting on products with compassion or upselling solution for their issues with a smile, you’ll be the difference between customer experience being just average or an exceptional one.

You will help modernize locomotives by creating schematics and product instructions for our global customers. This will require you to integrate and apply existing ZTR products which help increase rolling stock reliability, availability, maintainability, and connectivity. In addition to these operational benefits, our products have a positive environmental impact so you will get a chance to help the rail industry achieve its environmental goals.

For this role, hybrid work is available after a satisfactory onboarding period.

What your responsibilities will be:

  • Analyze and troubleshoot circuits using electrical schematics and manuals.
  • Author, validate, and approve customer-facing documentation including product installation and testing instructions.
  • Provide technical and customer support for established product applications.
  • Make critical decisions about product solutions based on product and customer requirements.
  • Meet deadlines for multiple projects while working with teams and reporting to project managers.
  • Utilize drafting software to generate accurate and detailed electrical schematics.
  • Work with internal teams on complex projects and grow your technical expertise.
  • Be a point of contact for customer facing inquiries.
  • Must be available to travel to customer sites within North America to support applications and commissioning.

Ideal candidates would have:

  • Controls or electrical engineering degree or diploma.
  • Effective technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge to interpret and work with electrical schematics.
  • Experience with EPlan or similar drafting software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self motivation to problem-solve and multitask effectively.
  • Functional experience with PLC hardware and software is an asset.
  • Potential ability to travel internationally.

Please apply even if you don’t qualify for all responsibilities or skills.
