Parmerit is also a manufacturer of downstream equipment for companies producing extruded plastic pipe. The Adescor product line is now being engineered and manufactured at Parmerit’s plant in Strathroy, Ontario.

Role Purpose: We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Controls Specialist to join our dynamic team. As an Automation Controls Specialist, you will play a vital role in developing, implementing, and maintaining automated control systems for our clients. The Automation Controls Specialist will work with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that meet the needs of our customers. This role requires a strong technical background, problem-solving abilities, and the willingness to travel to client sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their automation requirements and develop customized control systems to meet their needs.
  • Develop PLC programs using Allen-Bradley PLCs (such as CompactLogix, ControlLogix) and other PLC platforms as required.
  • Develop and execute test plans and troubleshooting of control systems to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
  • Perform system commissioning and provide on-site support during the installation and startup phases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and project managers, to ensure successful project execution.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in automation and control technologies to provide innovative solutions to clients.
  • Document all system designs, changes, and troubleshooting procedures for future reference.
  • Provide technical training and support to clients and internal teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with Rockwell Automation controls (Studio 5000 Logix Designer, FactoryTalk View Studio, View Designer) including programming, troubleshooting, and system integration.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial automation and control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and other field devices.
  • Experience with other PLC platforms (Siemens, Omron, etc.) is a plus.
  • Proficient in programming languages commonly used in PLC systems (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
  • Experience with industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP) and communication interfaces.
  • Experience with robotics (Fanuc, Motoman, ABB, etc.), including programming and trouble shooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and control system drawings and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients and internal teams.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites for project installations, commissioning, and support
