Job Title: Project Manager – Defence Protection Systems
Location: London ON Canada + potential travel to UK and USA
Hours: 40 hrs per week (Mon to Fri) based on-site with potential hybrid working available
Vacancy Type: Full-time, Permanent and Hybrid 
Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 CDN (subject to experience) + Bonuses + Benefits

JOB DUTIES
  1. Strategic and tactical management of allocated projects ensuring delivery on time, to the right quality standards and to agreed project budgets.  
  2. Work with a cross functional team, including Engineers, Quality, Production and Business Development in the definition and co-ordination of the resources required and assigned to projects.
  3. Work with Engineers and designers in the definition and capture of engineering requirements, defined through work breakdown structures.
  4. Technical direction to ensure the system design meets the customer’s technical specifications, and any other relevant quality or regulatory requirements.
  5. Technical direction of the project engineering and design teams to ensure that the final design satisfies the requirements specified.
  6. Recognize the need for engineering change and direct engineering change requests as appropriate.
  7. Management of a full product life cycle from bids and project initiation through development and verification, into full rate production.
  8. Supporting the team by problem solving design and product issues, and resolving functional issues as they arise throughout the development and service lifecycle.
  9. Collaboration with Production and Quality teams to investigate and obtain any necessary corrective action data.
  10. Ensuring all team members understand the requirements and timing plan.
  11. Provision of robust management information reporting on progress both internally and externally.
  12. Development of close, long-term productive customer relationships.
  13. Development and maintenance of Project Management Plans and associated governance documentation to ensure the continued viability of the project.
  14. Maintain a clear, comprehensive understanding of the risks and opportunities for all allocated projects and a clear understanding of necessary actions to follow up as appropriate.
  15. Collaborating with the bid management team – or leading – on bid preparation activities as required.
  16. Ownership of the financial budget, with support from the project accountant community, and forecasting future risks and opportunities.

CRITICAL OUTPUTS AND ACHIEVEMENT REQUIRED
  • Successful completion of project milestones on time, to cost and on schedule.
  • Develop and maintain key project documentation such as schedules, budgets, risk registers, etc.
  • Track and report internal and external Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across multiple projects

EXPERIENCE

Essential
  • Post-secondary education or relevant work-based experience.
  • A high level of technical proficiency underpinned by formal technical/engineering qualifications
  • Experienced Project Management professional with strong leadership skills & demonstrable track record in successful project setup, execution & delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft packages, including MS Project.
  • A self-starter who can work independently and effectively under minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge and experience in the effective use of Project Management tools and techniques
  • Ability to quickly identify the critical path and mitigate risks as they are identified.
  • Ability to create effective working relationships within a challenging environment, and leading multi-functional teams.
  • Strong negotiation skills with customers, management, peers, and subordinates.
  • Canadian citizen or valid work permit

Desirable
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience working in the defence industry.
  • Experience working on military vehicle platforms.
