The Opportunity


The Industrial Engineer will create and maintain labor standards for new and existing processes and develop new processes, job design and continual improvements as required.
 
In this role you will:
  • Develop and maintain all process and labour standards using M.O.S.T.
  • Develop and maintain production work instructions.
  • Maintain line balance and a safe and efficient process.
  • Lead Kaizen/Continuous Improvement Program and report monthly.
  • Lead the Company Ergonomic Program and report to JHSC monthly.
  • Maintain facilities layout and engineer layout changes with work optimization and material flow.
  • Work with suppliers to develop part packaging/containerization as required.
  • Assist in productivity improvements, defect/scrap reduction and safety issues as required.
  • Prepare manpower and process analysis to support business cases and Capex initiatives.
  • Acquire quotations, source vendors and manage the implementation of new projects.
  • Monitor drawings for specification changes and communicate changes to appropriate groups
  • Prepare and maintain all related reports/documentation as required.
  • Help Health & safety in ergonomic studies and safe return to work duties based on restrictions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with knowledge about convergent problem-solving methodologies are preferred. Experience with Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma will be an asset
  • Track record demonstrating proficiency in leadership, and ability to work independently
  • Strong Team Player with excellent communications skills
  • Proficient with MS Project/AutoCAD /SolidWorks/Excel/Word/PowerPoint
  • Legal ability to travel, primarily in Canada, and the United States
In addition to the job duties as listed above, GD Americas may require you to perform the duties of other persons or require you to perform additional duties from time to time. You shall perform your duties faithfully and to the best of your abilities and shall devote your time and attention to the business of GD Americas.
 
 
 
What You Need


 
  • Post-secondary degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Four to six years of related experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Practical experience at mixed model line balance
  • Demonstrated experience at project management
  • Certified in M.O.S.T. predetermined motion time system an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and the scientific method.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of basic principles, theories, concepts, and practices in the applicable engineering/technical specialization area.
