The Opportunity

The Industrial/Process Engineer will design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for production processes, including quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination.

ENGINEERING:

  • Organizes, plans, tracks, and resolves design problems associated with product performance in engineering, manufacturing, and the field.
  • Assistance with system-level design and the development of specifications, schedules, and test plans related to product development activities and upgrades.
  • Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure design specifications meet or exceed all applicable regulatory standards.
  • Specifies, designs analysis, simulates, prototypes, builds, tests, documents, and releases to manufacturing systems.
  • Work closely with the product engineering team to incorporate required design changes to address problem resolution.
  • Develop and maintain all process and labor standards along with production work instructions.
  • Maintain line balance and a safe and efficient process.
  • Lead Kaizen, Ergonomics, and Continuous Improvement Program and report monthly.
  • Maintain facilities layout and engineer layout changes with work optimization and material flow.
  • Work with suppliers to develop part packaging/containerization as required.
  • Assist in productivity improvements, defect/scrap reduction, and safety issues as required.
  • Prepare manpower and process analysis to support business cases and Capex initiatives.
  • Acquire quotations, source vendors and manage the implementation of new projects.
  • Monitor drawings for specification changes and communicate changes to appropriate groups.
  • Prepare and maintain all related reports/documentation as required.
  • Help JHSC in ergonomic studies and safe return to work duties based on restrictions.
  • Interacts and collaborates effectively with internal and external team members to ensure the needs of the company are met.
  • Prioritizes and manages multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions.
  • Relevant experience in manufacturing, preferably in a high-volume production environment
  • Knowledgeable of the principles of quality management, SAP, APQP, continuous improvement, and the Production System.
  • Experience or a demonstrated aptitude in stamping, light assembly, painting, and inspection.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with knowledge of convergent problem-solving methodologies are preferred. Experience with Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma will be an asset.
  • Strong Team Player with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Project/AutoCAD /SolidWorks/Excel/Word/PowerPoint.
  • Legal ability to travel, primarily in Canada, and the United States.

SAP:

  • Manage BOMs, Material Master Data fields, Control Production versions, Cycle Records, and Routings to align with production requirements.
  • Troubleshoot Material Staging against actual requirements.
  • Identify system issues and implement short-term and permanent corrective actions.
  • Create Warehouse tasks and pick requests against created outbounds.
  • Develop test parameters to allow sub-assembly work center scheduling.
  • Scrap productions communicated values in the system to correct inventory.
  • Identify issues on material usage on BOM and implement permanent corrective action.
  • Adjust Inventory to reflect the current outsourcing of painted components.
  • Update inventory values to Part numbers on the BOMs.
  • Clear Kogi Error and complete root cause analysis.

 

What You Need

  • Post-secondary degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Technology or equivalent in a related field.
  • Four to six years of related experience or equivalent.
  • Practical experience in mixed model line balance.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and CI activities.
  • Certified in M.O.S.T. predetermined motion time system an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production
