Area Manager, Consolidation and AccountingKEY JOB ELEMENTS:- Manage the Consolidations and Accounting team including co-ordination of work and delivery of quarterly performance reviews
- Provide leadership, guidance, support, training and coaching for career growth opportunities to the team
- Lead the month-end close and consolidation in a multi-currency environment for several sets of books
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules and analysis to support the consolidated financial statements and internal reporting
- Provide technical guidance and resolution for Balance Sheet and Income Statements variance analysis
- Prepare financial review packages and present to senior leadership
- Provide technical guidance to Finance department with regards to month-end processes
- Oversee foreign currency risk, hedges, and reporting of exchange gains/losses
- Provide accounting direction on property and casualty insurance, interdivisional transactions, inventory, pensions, payroll and leases
- Operate within an appropriate control framework including internal controls over financial reporting consistent with internal control policies and procedures
- Work with external auditors as part of quarterly and year audits ensuring quality deliverables in a timely manner
- Lead legal entity and branch statutory audits of financial statements for foreign locations
- Perform other related duties or special projects as required
- Professional Accounting Designation
- University Degree in Business, Commerce, Economics or Finance
- 7 years or more of relevant experience
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with an attention to detail
- Demonstrates professional judgement, analytical capabilities and organizational skills
- Understanding of and experience working with US GAAP
- High skill level with Microsoft Office applications (strong focus on Excel)
- Ability to travel (5% Canadian, 5% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
- 5 years or more of financial industry experience
- Knowledge of GDLS practices and procedures
- Supervisory experience
- Audit experience
- Advanced working knowledge of Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics and Other Enterprise Systems
