Buckland is looking for a Technical Business Analyst

 

What you’ll be doing

The Technical Business Analyst, working among both Business Analysts and Product Owners is excited by and advocates for change. They are innovative in their design ideas and can see them through from conception to implementation driven by their skillset. A successful candidate in this role will understand and respond to corporate projects by understanding data mapping, building, and designing integrations and connects applications to one another for the purpose of streamlined automation. In this specialized role, the Technical Business Analyst with work side-by-side with Systems Architecture, Software Development and Business Unit teams to understand and prioritize needs iteratively. They will be an integrated and key member of a target group of project staff who will seek to implement cross functional, large scale and complex projects.

You will be responsible for…

  • Provide support for the retirement of paper based, manually keyed tasks through OCR, document intake and processing.
  • Aids in the solution design or acquisition of a platform intended to drive accuracy and integrity of data, efficiency of processing information and reliability of the tools to achieve 99% uptime.
  • Design and scale project features or deliverables for document processing
  • Responsible for meeting with specific end users to understand and document their current steps to deliver a required output/product.
  • Work cross-functionally with Software Developers and Product Owners to gather ideas and solutions to streamline and improve current business processes (shared data across multiple applications)
  • Build long term enhancement plans, adding features and data elements that drive efficiency in business and systems processes, allowing for long term sustainability and business continuity.
  • Proactively communicate project status, issues and risks to responsible leaders who can escalate and support when required.
  • Author and publish required documentation sets (including but not limited to) business & technical requirements specifications, data, or process flow diagrams, testing steps, issues logs, training material etc.
  • Keeps current in role/industry by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

What we need from you

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Business Systems, Software Engineering, or equivalent education.
  • Has acted in the capacity of a Business Analyst/Systems Analyst or 2-5 years of similar employment experience. A background in EDI related projects – integrations, retirement of aged technology or applications.
  • Proven track record of the ability to map, debug and understand positioning of data elements and their relationships to (but not limited) customers, carriers, systems, calculations, or general use and purpose.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an Agile software development environment and familiarity with core Agile events such as Stand-ups, Iteration Planning, Iteration Reviews and Retrospectives.
  • Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product owners, testers, and other stakeholders and advocate for and practice CI/CD, Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD).
  • Strong communication skills, able to communicate in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word) and experience in using SQL, PowerShell PowerShell, Python, or other software development tools is nice to have.
