Yurek Specialties Limited is a state-of-the-art processing facility in London, ON, which features the latest equipment to support the processing, production, and delivery of medical supplies and infusion equipment, along with related supplies, to the Elgin, Norfolk, Oxford, London-Middlesex, Huron, Perth, Grey, Bruce and Grand River counties.

We are currently looking for a dynamic and personable full-time-18 month contract Senior Buyer to join our Yurek Specialities team in London, Ontario.

Job Purpose
Under the direction of the Purchasing and Customer Contracts Manager, the Senior Buyer is responsible for leading the day-to-day procurement activities.  The Senior Buyer is highly skilled at forming and maintaining relationships with both suppliers and customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as the first point of contact for escalated purchasing issues, promoting swift resolution.
  • Develop and implement supplier management program.
  • Maintain and report on key performance indicators that are required by the customer as well as those used to determine departmental effectiveness.
  • Determine appropriate sales price of products as required.
  • Maintain data integrity for item masters in the ERP system.
  • Review and approve Change Request forms.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing processes.
  • Maintain appropriate safety stock levels based on customer requirements and forecasted usage.
  • Develop and nurture strong partnerships with suppliers, external partners, and customers managing cost, quality and overall performance.
  • Collaborate and work directly with cross-functional teams to drive results, including Quality, Pick and Pack, Finance and Logistics/Warehousing.
  • Prepare analyses relevant to the implementation of cost reduction, operational improvement and other special projects initiatives as needed.
  • Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects.
  • Review contracts and provide executive summary to manager.
  • Track and communicate details pertaining to shipping, delivery, delays, and order status.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by Manager.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive purchasing experience in a high-volume setting
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and meet deadlines.
  • Expertise in reading and writing Purchasing Contracts.
  • Excellent negotiation, customer service and communication skills.
  • Superior time management skills with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • A college degree in Supply Chain or a related field is preferred.
  • Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation considered an asset.
