We are currently looking for a temporary full-time Industrial Engineer – Material Movement Specialist to join our Yurek Specialities team in London, Ontario for a six-month contract position (flex hours/consulting basis options available.)

Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Industrial Engineer – Material Movement Specialist to join our Operations team. In the Consultant role, you will be responsible for the design and development of material movement processes including the breakout of multi-client product streams, warehouse layouts and operating procedures to improve efficiency of existing systems. Your expertise will contribute to the overall success of our client projects by implementing best practices and maintaining a high level of organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of warehouse and production facility operations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop optimal warehouse layout and material handling process for multi-client lines.
  • Design and implement seamless material flow using appropriate material handling equipment, such as conveyors, forklifts, tuggers and automated systems.
  • Analyze material flows within the warehouse and identify bottlenecks or areas for improvement.
  • Assist with warehouse engineering such as product slotting, distribution center MHE solutions, studying labor standards (time studies), distribution center layouts and optimization of flow, headcount rationalization and forecasting, WMS functionality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, logistics, and procurement, to understand their material handling needs and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Develop and maintain material handling standards and guidelines to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Develop and execute testing and validation plans to ensure the proper functioning and safety of material handling systems.
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors and suppliers to select and procure the necessary material handling equipment.
  • Strong project management skills to effectively plan and execute material handling projects within given timelines and budgets.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards related to material handling systems.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer in a high-volume manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a regulatory industry is an asset, e.g., pharmaceuticals or food manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in supply chain optimization, with expertise in Value stream mapping, PFEP, packaging development, material storage design, material flow optimization, and logistics process improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite with advanced knowledge of MS Excel. MS Project and Visio skills an asset.
