Key Job Elements and Responsibilities

  • Execute full life cycle design activities, taking responsibility to overcome design challenges, collaborate with stakeholders, and seek optimized design outcomes.
  • Develop, release and maintain Technical Data Packages (TDP) related to primary (hull) and secondary structures (e.g. doors, hatches, grills and armour).
  • Prepare and present formal Design Review materials.
  • Accountable for designs and ensuring compliance to requirements.
  • Investigate, respond, and implement corrective action to production, supplier or in-service issues.
  • Conduct (or support) preliminary structural analysis using Simcenter (NX), SimSolid (Altair) or similar FEA tools to guide design decisions.
  • Identify and proactively seek opportunities for self and team development.
  • Maintain active and professional communication with all involved stakeholders.
  • Lead test planning, execution and reporting activities.
  • Manage and monitor execution of tasks to assigned scope, budget, schedule and requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate technical, schedule and budgetary risks.
  • Identify continuous improvement initiatives, and as requested, lead such initiatives.
  • Support and/or lead quality and RCCA related activities as requested.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of best practices, guidance documents, processes, and procedures.
  • Support Customer interactions as requested.
  • Share new Independent Research and Development (IRAD) ideas with key stakeholders and support project execution as requested.
  • Assist with bidding and proposal activity as requested.

  Required Qualifications:

  • University degree, College Diploma or demonstrated exceptional abilities in relevant engineering discipline
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant subject matter expertise.
  • Superior oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of materials, structural analysis and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with NX Unigraphics or similar CAD software
  • Project leadership experience
  • Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (5% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
  • Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Requirements for confined space

 Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with military vehicles, specifications & standards
  • Hands-on manufacturing experience
  • Eng. or ability to obtain P. Eng designation
  • Proficient with GDLS-C processes and products
