ABOUT THE ROLE

The Manager, Project Delivery provides strategic oversight and leadership to a team of Project Managers, ensuring consistent execution of projects aligned with organizational goals. This role drives project governance, resource alignment, and best practices to deliver high-impact results across multiple initiatives. The Manager, Project Delivery will Lead, Inspire, Build, and Motivate a high-performance team that delivers on our higher purpose – ‘Enriching the lives of our partners’ and influence behavior to create a culture of excellence.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Manger, Project Delivery collaborates closely with department leaders and key stakeholders to align project outcomes with business priorities. They also mentor and support Project Managers, fostering cross-functional collaboration and ensuring effective communication across teams.

Project & Operational Excellence

  • Provide hands-on oversight of all active projects through close collaboration with individual Project Managers, ensuring timelines, budgets, and client expectations are met.
  • Monitor project-related invoices and payments to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Serve as a key liaison with engineering, drafting, and production teams to ensure builder needs are met with precision and efficiency.
  • Align builder requirements with Steelway's production schedule to meet delivery expectations.
  • Lead change order management efforts by tracking modifications and ensuring all additional costs are appropriately captured.
  • Partner with Project Managers and Builders to clearly communicate the impacts of project changes and manage expectations.
  • Host and support project kick-off meetings to ensure smooth project initiation and address potential concerns early.
  • Drive process and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, eliminate duplication, and prioritize high-value tasks across the organization.
  • Set and maintain group goals and performance objectives; track, forecast, and report on critical KPIs regularly.
  • Monitor and balance project workloads across the team to ensure capacity is managed appropriately.
  • Oversee the NCR (Non-Conformance Report) program, identifying and investigating systemic issues and contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Maintain strong communication with District Managers to ensure they are informed and actively supporting project and builder needs.
  • Ensure timely follow-up and resolution of customer feedback to uphold service excellence.

Leadership, Values, and Compliance

  • Apply working knowledge of structural steel and its components to assist in solving customer challenges related to design criteria, ideally without engineering escalation.
  • Effectively lead, manage, and develop the Project Management team, including onboarding, coaching, and training.
  • Ensure adherence to Steelway policies and procedures throughout the order fulfillment process.
  • Champion the delivery of exceptional client experiences that align with Steelway’s Core Values.
  • Provide mentorship and support to Project Managers in resolving major or escalated issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation (OHSA), promote safe working practices including safe equipment operation, hazard reporting, and awareness of rights.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Post Secondary Education in Business, Engineering or Construction Management
  • 5-8 years of experience in management or supervisory role in either a Sales and/or Project Management Capacity.
  • 2-5 years of experience within the construction industry or related project delivery field
  • PMP or Engineering designation would be considered an asset. Preference will be given to those with either civil or structural steel engineering experience.
  • Other management experience related to construction or buildings will be considered
  • Experience managing a team of 5-10 direct reports
  • Experience leading teams across multiple divisions to drive process changes or optimization

SUCCESS FACTORS

  • Highly effective communication skills, both spoken and written, are paramount
  • Understand construction processes and construction management (site-work, tendering, contracts, specifications, etc.)
  • Experience with software’s such as Bluebeam, Epicor, Tekla, MBS
  • Understand manufacturing processes (tolerances, capabilities) and Quality Management
  • Strategic Planning and Business Management practical knowledge
  • Understand Metal Building construction methods and details
  • Understand Conventional construction methods and details
  • Strong analytical background is preferred
  • Excellent internal and external customer relationship management skills
  • Have basic finance skills (understanding of revenue, expenses, income, margins, budgets, etc.)
  • Ability to empower, influence and work cohesively within a diverse team
  • Ability to prioritize workload, minimize risk utilizing time management skills
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft programs, SharePoint, CRM and Bluebeam
  • Fluency in French (with technical / construction expertise) is an asset
