Your role and key responsibilities

The Production Steering Specialist translates S&OE production plans into actionable manufacturing schedules and enters these plans into the MES system, ensuring alignment with internal departments and PowerCo Headquarters. The role monitors KPIs, escalates deviations, and drives resolution of production issues, while leading daily shop floor meetings and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The specialist also supports system rollouts (SAP PP, MES), coordinates technical changes, facilitates knowledge transfer, and leads continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production processes and ensure timely, reliable fulfillment of manufacturing objectives.

This is a flex hybrid work structure, where employees can work both remotely and on-site at our St. Thomas location with possible transition to full time onsite.

What you bring to the team

Global Standards & Local Implementation

  • Implement PowerCo HQ Production Steering standards and adapt processes to Canadian operational and regulatory needs.
  • Validate global data formats, reporting requirements, and system interfaces for local compliance.

System Rollouts & Digital Integration

  • Support SAP PP and MES rollouts by testing and refining process flows to fit local plant operations.
  • Coordinate with HQ and digitalization teams to resolve gaps between global concepts and local execution.

Communication, Alignment & Training

  • Serve as the primary liaison between HQ and local teams, ensuring clear responsibilities, reporting cadence, and information flow.
  • Localize HQ standards and deliver training to planners and logistics personnel.

Ramp-Up & Performance Monitoring

  • Implement dashboards to track HQ-defined ramp-up KPIs and manage escalations.
  • Lead response to deviations and provide structured lessons learned to HQ.

Production Planning & Daily Operations

  • Convert S&OE plans into detailed MES production schedules and validate manufacturing orders.
  • Lead daily shop-floor meetings, address issues, and escalate production or equipment constraints.

KPIs & Operational Controls

  • Monitor scrap, logistics KPIs, and production metrics; drive corrective actions when deviations occur.
  • Communicate production calendar updates to stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Technical Changes

  • Coordinate with Quality, Production, Raw Materials, and Technical Product teams to maintain alignment.
  • Manage material, product, and part-related technical changes across functions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive process optimization, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives within Production Steering.

What makes you stand out

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or Business Administration, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in a relevant position within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, MRP, and capacity planning
  • Ability to perform data-driven analysis (e.g., scrap trends, throughput bottlenecks, inventory accuracy)
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, root cause analysis)
  • Ability to travel internationally for training and collaboration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP certification or training in relevant modules (IBP, PP) is a plus
  • P.Eng
  • Highly proficient with Excel (formulas, pivot tables) and data visualization/reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) integration
