Job Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with co-ordination of scheduling particular activities to ensure that equipment and resources are efficiently utilized to meet production outcomes. Identifying requirements for specific materials, tools, and supplies.
  • Responsible for the efficient coordination of work cells, management of provided resources to achieve established goals & objectives. Goals & objectives are clearly communicated & understood on the production floor, work cells have the required tools and trained labour to perform, work cells have the material and proper equipment to safely fabricate material.
  • An exceptional ability to complete work with a high level of independence, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Stays on top of internal company communication and filter relevant information to team.
  • Ensures cell specific schedule is being followed along with work order scanning/ sign off.
  • Employee training to production requirements giving support and mentoring to team.
  • Evaluate the quality and quantity of work daily.
  • Ensure team follows all company policy and procedures.
  • Maintain safe work environment by educating and directing employees on the use of equipment and tools, processes, and procedures. Ensuring all team members are working in a safe manner and utilizing appropriate PPE.
  • Participate in effectively resolving / diffusing employee conflicts.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed/directed.
  • Ensure all health and safety precautions are taken, policies are followed and enforced.
  • The Lead Hand will initiate, propose, or provide solutions related to potential process improvements to reduce or eliminate the generation of waste, the handling or disposal of waste through reclamation and/or recycling of material.
  • The Lead hand may be reassigned to other work matching their qualifications from time to time.
  • The Lead hand may also be required to complete other duties as assigned.

Qualified Candidates will have:

  • Requires general computer skills and must be proficient in the use of MS Office, email, can source information from the internet and internal databases and learn new software programs.
  • 1-3 years of production experience.
  • 1-3 years of shipping experience is an asset.
  • Previous leadership experience is an asset.
  • Clear, concise communication both verbal and written.
  • Works in collaboration with the hourly workers, Supervisors and Production Manager.
  • Professional behaviour and conduct with a balanced approach to resolving employee conflicts.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize & effectively coordinate resources.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to read drawings and use tape measures and various measurement tools.
  • Health & Safety awareness.
