JOB DESCRIPTION: CONTRACT LAWYER

A Contract Lawyer at Aspire will be highly skilled and experienced in providing expert legal guidance on contract matters. This part-time role is critical in ensuring that all contractual agreements align with Aspire’s business objectives while mitigating potential legal risks. The Contract Lawyer will work closely with various departments to draft, review, and negotiate contracts.

This position is based in London, Ontario, with a commitment of 5 to 10 hours per week.

SHIFT STRUCTURE

This role offers flexible working hours, with an expectation of 5 to 10 hours of work per week, depending on project demands.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide expert legal advice on contract interpretation, negotiation, and enforcement.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including NDAs, supplier agreements, partnership agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Ensure all contracts are compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate potential legal risks in contractual agreements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and ensure contracts support these objectives.
  • Stay current with legal trends, regulations, and best practices relevant to the industry.
  • Support the development and implementation of contract management processes.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Law degree with a strong focus on contract law.
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Professional years of experience in contract law, preferably within the food, agriculture, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Strong understanding of commercial law, with the ability to translate complex legal terms into practical business language.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Pay: $45.00-$100.00 per hour
