Quality Management System (QMS) Manager

Dessert Holdings is looking for a QMS Manager to join our team, based out of London, Ontario.  This individual will focus on the development and maintenance of the Company’s Quality Management System and manage ingredient identity claims.     

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Coordinate and provide support for GFSI audits for all Company locations, including completion of risk assessments and validations. 

  • Conduct routine appraisals of the QMS to ensure compliance with BRC, SQF, FSSC22000, RSPO, gluten-free, fairtrade, and other standards and regulations. 

  • Participate in and support customer audits, mock recalls, internal audits, etc. at Company facilities, including follow-up of corrective actions, as needed, and reporting findings to stakeholders. 

  • Act as gate keeper for document controls, ensuring corporate documents are maintained, current, and accurate in the system. 

  • Manage and train a growing team of QMS Coordinators, including training and developing their skillsets.  

  • Manage ingredient identity claims and gluten-free, organic, Kosher, and non-GMO programs. 

  • Create, update, and maintain ingredient and packaging material vulnerability assessments. 

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to management licenses and certifications are in good standing. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor's degree required; preferably in Food Science, Food Safety Management, Quality Management, or related fields 

  • At least 5+ years of experience working with/managing a QMS 

  • Prior experience managing others, including training and developing new skills 

  • Prior experience and expertise with GFSI programs (BRC, SQF, etc.) 

  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP, RSPO, fairtrade, US/Canada/international, Kosher, Gluten-free requirements 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications including SharePoint, Adobe tools, ERP, etc. 

  • Ability to prioritize and plan multiple activities, set goals, meet timelines and objectives 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills 

  • Ability to travel up to 35% within North America, including working in office, laboratory, and production environments
